Abstract: A conventional open-face spinning reel is modified by attaching to the outer face of the spool a second spool smaller in diameter and arranged concentrically with and having its rear face abutting the front face of the main spool.
Abstract: An automatic line release mechanism is attached to a hollow handle of a spinning rod within which handle the rod is free to flex. The line release includes a pivotally mounted trigger which holds the line between the reel and the first line guide prior to making a cast. The trigger is automatically moved to a line releasing position by tension in the line and bending of the rod during casting. A cam locking means is released by a sliding bar member connected by a resilient wire to the rod within the hollow handle. The effective length of the wire is changed in response to flexure of the rod to unlock the trigger at the proper time in the cast.
Abstract: A line guide for a fishing rod includes a resilient wire mounting frame for attachment to a rod in the conventional manner. The line guiding portion is an annular ring having a grooved periphery which snaps into the wire mounting frame. The configuration of the frame and the groove are such that the ring is held against rotation in any one of several rotatably adjustable positions and these may be changed without removing a line threaded through the guide.
