Abstract: A novel family of compounds, having desirable odorous qualities suitable for use in perfume compositions, is disclosed.These compounds fall within the general formula:A. a compound of the general formula: ##SPC1##WhereinR.sup.1 represents an alkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms,R.sup.2 is a member selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms and a phenyl group,R.sup.3 is a member selected from the group consisting of H, a methyl group and an ethyl group, andR.sup.4 is a member selected from the group consisting of a CH.sub.2 OH group, a CH.sub.2 OAc group, wherein Ac denotes the acyl residue of a carboxylic acid, a CHO group, and an acetalised CHO group;B. a compound as set forth in (a) above except that R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together represent a member selected from the group consisting of a tetramethylene chain and a pentamethylene chain; andC. a compound selected from the group consisting of a .DELTA..sup.5.sup.
