  • Patent number: 10633821
Abstract: An automated backslope cutting system which, based on a survey of an area, automatically adjusts a scraper blade during the cutting of a ditch backslope. The automated backslope cutting system generally includes a scraper which is automatically adjusted by a computing device to effectuate cutting of backslopes for a ditch based on a desired cut profile. The desired cut profile may be manually entered by the operator and automatically processed by the computing device. The area is surveyed with a positioning sensor to determine an optimal desired cut profile requiring a minimum number of cuts. A proximity sensor may be provided to accommodate for rotational movement of the cutting blade as the scraper performs cuts. A control software is provided for execution by the computing device to provide functionality including the automatic adjustment of hydraulic actuators controlling movement of the cutting blade as the scraper cuts the ditch and backslopes.

  • Patent number: 4946003
Abstract: A mobile aerial lift having a vehicle of the type having a frame with a longitudinal axis and ground-engaging wheels carried by the frame. An operator's driving station is carried by the frame. An aerial lift is carried by the frame and includes a boom structure and control means for the boom structure which permits the outer extremity of the boom structure to be raised and lowered about a horizontal axis, rotated about a vertical axis, and extended and retracted. A mast is provided for carrying the boom structure and is secured to one side of the frame and is spaced from the longitudinal axis of the frame.

  • Patent number: 4877422
Abstract: A mobile aerial lift having a vehicle and a boom structure mounted on a vehicle. The boom structure has an outer extremity. A workman's basket is mounted on the outer extremity. A control is carried by the boom structure and is accessible to the workman's basket for controlling operation of the boom structure. The boom structure has an insulated boom section and an exclosed space is provided for at least a portion of the insulated boom section. Gas is supplied under positive pressure to the enclosed space and provides a clean, relatively moisture-free environment for a portion of the interior of the insulated boom section and maintains the electrical insulating properties of the insulated boom section.

  • Patent number: 4468089
Abstract: A flat communication cable is formed of an assembly of standardized modules in edge-to-edge relation surrounded by an overlying polyester protective cover. The modules containing a PVC jacket are united to form a ribbon by a blend of fusion and hot melt adhesive material, and the protective cover is bonded thereto by the adhesive. The modules can contain polyolefin insulated wire pairs, coaxial electrical conductors, stranded or solid wire, fiber optic filaments, or the like. Semiconductive or non-conductive material can be incorporated in the PVC jacket of the modules and/or the adhesive as desired and in any combination. Drain wires can be included. Also, the cover material can include metallic layers for shielding.

  • Patent number: 4467138
Abstract: A communication wire of flat construction has two or more pairs of communication gage polyolefin insulated wires, twisted along their length, disposed in groups on opposite sides and parallel to a conductive steel wire. The steel wire may be galvanized or copper clad. All of the foregoing are embedded in a PVC jacket with the PVC material bonded to the steel wire but unbonded to the insulated communication gage wires. Weakening lines permit separation into central and side parts with an intact PVC jacket on each part. When used as telephone drop wire the steel wire provides both physical support and electrical conductivity for supplemental or primary grounding. The wire shape and size permits use of existing hardware for installation. Alternatively, a group of wires on at least one side is replaced either by a coaxial cable or by one or more polyolefin jacketed optical fiber conductors.

  • Patent number: 4453031
Abstract: Three or more groups of individually insulated conductors are optionally separately wrapped with insulating material and then either singly or collectively encircled with metal tape material. The groups are secured together by a strengthening steel tape and surrounding protective jacket. By way of example, a series of embodiments are described, each containing three groups of conductors or cores. Screen configurations are presented for enclosing all groups or only the carrier service groups with one tape element that weaves its way in and out between the groups so that each group or core is screened from all adjacent cores. Other configurations employ separate tapes, each enclosing a separate corresponding group. Finally, embodiments are disclosed in which one group is enclosed by one tape element, while two additional groups are collectively enclosed by a single tape element deployed somewhat "S" shape about the cores.
