Patents Assigned to GKN-Stenman AB
  • Patent number: 4631941
Abstract: A cylinder lock (1) has a normal locking mode (12 o'clock position) and a service locking mode (10 o'clock position). When the cylinder plug (3) is left in the service mode of the lock, with the aid of a standard key, the lock can be turned with the aid of a service key (9). The service key is latched against withdrawal in the normal mode of the lock, by means of an intermediate pin (7') of larger diameter than a corresponding upper pin (4) in the normal mode of the lock. The intermediate pin can be received in a widened part (3b') of a corresponding pin-channel (3a') in the cylinder plug, but is unable to enter the pin channel (2a) of the cylinder housing of smaller diameter, hence latching the service key (9). Subsequent to using the service key (9), the cylinder is returned to the normal locking mode (12 o'clock position) with the aid of the standard key, whereafter the lock can only be opened with the aid of the standard key.

  • Patent number: 4577479
Abstract: A cylinder lock has a plug (2) provided with coaxial pin passages (6, 8) arranged to accommodate lock pins (7, 9). At least one pin (9) has a necked portion (9a) and a head (9b), and at least one of the pin passages (6) exhibits a widened portion (6a). The pin head (9b) has a smaller diameter than the major part of the pin, and the widened portion (6a) of the recess has a smaller radius in a direction transversely of the axis of plug (2) than half the pin diameter. One or more disc-like pin members (11) may be provided between upper and lower pins (9, 7), these disc-like pin members being prevented from entering the widened portion of the recess when activating the lock with the correct key. The arrangement is such, however, that the head (9b) is readily hooked-up when an attempt to pick the lock is made.

  • Patent number: 4548061
Abstract: In an attachment fitting for cylinder locks (3, 3') the heads (4a) of a plurality of screws (4) are seated in a widened hole portion (5a) in the lock. A plugging or latching element (6) is arranged to co-act with a sealing pin (7) in a manner such that when the plug (3a) of the cylinder lock (3) is turned to a given position by means of a key, the sealing pin (7) moves inwardly in a peripheral hole (9) arranged in the plug, against the action of a spring (10). This enables the plugging or latching element (6) to be removed. Because of the presence of the plugging or latching element (6), however, the screw heads (4a) cannot be reached in order to loosen the screws by persons not having the correct key to the cylinder lock. The screws connect the cylinder lock (3) to a further cylinder lock (3') on the other side of the door.

  • Patent number: 4507944
Abstract: A cylinder lock-key combination includes a cylinder housing (1) having arranged therein a rotatable cylinder plug (2) having a slot (3) for a key (8). Arranged on the spine of the key is coded information in the form of regions (8a, 8b) of mutually different magnetic permeability. When the key moves relative to the housing these regions cause variations in a magnetic flux generated by a magnetic body (5k) and passing the key slot (3). A differential field plate (5) arranged in the housing and incorporated in an electric circuit, which also incorporates a bridge coupling, is arranged to convert said magnetic flux variations to momentary changes in resistance in the electric circuit, causing the bridge coupling to become unbalanced so that an electric pulse train corresponding to the coded information is generated in the circuit. This pulse train is sensed and evaluated by means, for example, of a data processing device. The invention also relates to a cylinder lock and a key for said combination.

  • Patent number: 4294092
Abstract: In a cylinder lock (1) one or more (2a, 3a) for locking pins (5) are formed in the cylinder housing (2) and the cylindrical body (3), and the bores in the cylinder housing have a slope relative to a normal to the axis of the cylinder housing. When the cylindrical body is rotated through 180.degree. by a correctly inserted key, a crescent-shaped part of each pin engages the wall of the cylinder housing so that the pins are held in the cylindrical body (2) without falling out through the mouths (2a') of said bores, although said mouths are not plugged. The problem of producing a simple and inexpensive method of manufacture for a cylindrical lock having a smaller number of elements than known locks is thus satisfactorily solved. The slope angle is suitably from 2.degree. to 3.degree..
