    Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of data transmission from a server to a remote workstation. According to the present invention, data is grouped into groups of data and, by merely comparing group identifiers, only the contents of the groups modified by an update are sent to the remote workstation. The method makes it possible to avoid sending the contents of groups of data that have not been modified, and thereby reduces the amount of data transmitted, while transmitting the relevant update information.
