  • Patent number: 8449811
Abstract: A method is for producing calcinated or sintered hollow bodies comprising a spherical surface, to hollow bodies produced using the method, and to the uses thereof. Calcinated or sintered hollow bodies comprising a spherically curved surface, an enlarged, freely accessible surface and/or a structured surface. An organic spherical carrier is coated with a powder which forms the shell of a hollow body, and a binding agent, both contained in suspension. A heat treatment is then carried out, leading to the expulsion of organic constituents and to the sin-tering process. At least one elevation is arranged on the surface of the carrier or embodied thereon, the projection past the surface corresponding at least to the thickness of the shell of the finished sintered hollow body, taking into account the degree of shrinkage of the powder material during the sintering process.

  • Patent number: 6968681
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method for the aftertreatment of exhaust gases from combustion engines, in particular from internal combustion engines. The device according to the invention and the method are intended to be of simple construction, should be inexpensive to produce and operate and should have less adverse effect on the flow conditions in the exhaust gas stream. To achieve this object, at least one region which is filled with beads is provided in the exhaust-gas stream, the beads preferably being hollow beads. The exhaust gas from the combustion engine is passed through this region, and it is possible to achieve particle agglomeration with simultaneous separation of these particles. In addition, further regions which are filled with metal fibers may follow the at least one region filled with beads, and the exhaust gas is additionally passed through these further regions.

The sealing system can be coupled to a second structural element. The first closing flap is provided with a first dynamic seal on the radial outer circumference thereof. An elastic seal is provided on the wall of the first through-opening and adjacent the first dynamic seal. The inner diameter of the elastic seal is smaller in the non-operated state than the outer diameter of the first closing flap. The first structural element is provided with a second closing flap which essentially matches the first closing flap and can be swivelled together with the first closing flap. The dynamic seal can be inflated radially towards the outside by means of inner pressure when the first closing flap is in the closing position and in such a way that the elastic seal is at least partially and radially displaced towards the outside.
