  • Patent number: 7866331
Abstract: The free-arm canopy comprises a mast (2), on which an extendable and retractable jib (10) is arranged, with a transverse fitting (34) at the end thereof on which a canopy (12) is arranged on a canopy pole (30) by means of a joint (32). The canopy (12) comprises a slider (36), connected in a jointed fashion to top ribs (44) by means of support ribs (40) which are further jointed to a crown (48) connected to the canopy pole (30), wherein the canopy (12) may be opened and closed by means of a tensile line (70) connected to the slider (36) and displacing the canopy pole (30) against the fitting (34) and thus locking the joint (32) on opening. According to the invention, the free-arm canopy may be improved, whereby the crown (48) of the canopy (12) is arranged on the upper end of a pole piece (52) in the form of a sleeve which may be displaced over the fitting (34) such that with an open canopy (12) the crown (48) goes over the joint (32) and is at least almost in contact with the jib (10).

  • Patent number: 7717121
Abstract: The invention relates to a free arm parasol which comprises a pole (2) whereon an extension arm (10) is guided such that it can be extended and detracted in the direction of the axis thereof, and can pivoted about the axis thereof. The extension arm (10) supports a parasol (12) on the end thereof and is rotationally mounted on the other end in a bearing (14). A carrier element (16), which is connected in an articulated manner to the pole (2), is connected to bearing. Also, a stopping device (24), which is used to stop the pivotable positioning of the extension arm (10), is provided on the bearing (14). Said stopping device comprises a steering bar (26) which is arranged in the extension of the extension arm (10), can be placed counter to the carrier element (16), can be locked to the carrier element (16) and can be pivoted about the axis of the extension arm (10) when in the unlocked state in order to improve the handling of the free arm parasol.

  • Patent number: 7398790
Abstract: The invention relates to an extension arm (6) that is arranged on a carrier (4) in such a way that it can pivot about the axis (18) thereof by means of a steering rod (20), and can be blocked in the pivoted position. Said steering rod (20) is arranged on a sleeve (44) that can be pivoted about the extension arm (6), can engage with the extension arm in different rotational angle positions, and can be directly or indirectly blocked on the carrier. According to the invention, a first coupling part (40) fixed to the extension arm (6) co-operates with a second coupling part (42) arranged on the sleeve (44) and acting in the axial direction. Furthermore, the steering rod (20) comprises a supporting element (56) that co-operates with a counterpart (58) arranged on the extension arm (6), in order to displace the second coupling part (42) in the axial direction by means of the steering rod (20). In this way, the extension arm can be pivoted and blocked in a simple manner with one hand.

  • Patent number: 6926019
Abstract: Umbrella shaft for a hanging umbrella, having a shaft part (20,26) and a rope drive (22), which connects a slide (16) and a crown (8) of the umbrella, the slide and the shaft part being coupled axially to one another when the umbrella is open. In order to improve the operability, the rope drive is designed as a rope winch (22) which can be connected to the slide (16), the rope (28) running essentially coaxially with the axis of the umbrella shaft.

  • Patent number: 6220261
Abstract: Disclosed is an adjustable static umbrella with a static mast (2) to which an arm (10) is secured by means of a hinge (12) allowing for the arm to be either adjusted into a use position or collapsed into a rest position and to be tipped about the hinge (12) tilting axle (14) perpendicular to the mast axis. The hinge (12) has toggle head (80) and a pair of shells (82, 82′) symmetrically inverted one to each other, encompassing the toggle head (80) therein and rotatably mounted about the tilting axle (14), while the pair of hinge shells (82, 82′) is provided with a length guide perpendicular to the tilting axle (14), in which the arm (10) is inserted.

  • Patent number: 6014980
Abstract: A jib (8) can be extended and retracted on the mast (2) and supported by means of mutually parallel connecting struts (16, 18). The struts are articulated secured to the mast (2) and the jib (8), while the jib can be secured in the extended position by means of a first clip (36) and bears a folding canopy (10) at the end away from the mast (2). The jib (8) is guided on the mast (2) and the struts (16, 18) so as to swivel, and can be secured in the swiveled position by a securing device (26, 28).

  • Patent number: 5785069
Abstract: A standing umbrella has a mast on which the inner end of an outwardly and inwardly movable carrier beam is guided with the outer end of the beam carrying an umbrella stick of a collapsible umbrella and with the carrier beam being held by a connecting strut linkedly arranged between the upper end of the mast the carrier beam. A drive mechanism shifts the inner end of the carrier beam along the length of the mast and the mast has two guide tracks spaced from one another and so profiled that guide elements running there along and carried by the inner end of the mast are held by the shape of the tracks against movement transversely to the direction in which the inner end of the carrier beam is shifted; and the drive mechanism for shifting the inner end of the carrier beam and a drive mechanism for opening and closing the umbrella are so combined with one another that they operate simultaneously in common.
