Abstract: A toothbrush head having a bristle surface with tufts of bristles extending therefrom comprising: first tufts of a mixture of co-extruded bristles and unitary bristles located adjacent to the distal end of the bristle surface; second tufts comprising a mixture of co-extruded bristles and unitary bristles located adjacent to the proximal end of the bristle surface; third tufts comprising tapered bristles located adjacent to the widthways opposite sides of the bristle surface; and fourth tufts comprising a mixture of co-extruded bristles and tapered bristles longer than the co-extruded bristles located as a cluster of fourth tufts widthways between the third tufts and longitudinally between the first and second tufts.

Abstract: A manual toothbrush having oral hygiene elements arranged in polygons with an oral hygiene element at each apex, and having plural polygons nested within each other. The oral hygiene elements may be bristles, which may be of two different types, or elastomer elements and may contain tooth-polishing additive. The toothbrush head surface may be flat or may have its region distal from the handle angled up.

Abstract: A toothbrush head in which the fixed ends of the bristles are embedded in a mass of a polyurethane gel material incorporated in the head. Typical nylon materials as used for toothbrush bristles are found to bind with polyurethane gels so that advantageously holders for the bristles need not be used. A moulding process is also provided for making the toothbrush head.

Abstract: An electrically powered toothbrush comprising a handle which contains an electric motor and power supply, a head part connected to the handle to be driven in motion by the electric motor by a transmission means between the motor and the oral head part. The head part is flexibly and resiliently connected to the handle such that the head part can move resiliently under pressure of the oral hygiene part against a tooth surface. The motor is moveably mounted within the handle and the assembly of motor and transmission means is pivotally connected to the handle at a pivot point between the brush head and the motor. Suitably the handle is in two parts with a flexible connection between the parts.
