Abstract: A motorized portable appliance which monitors, and automatically selects, one of multiple power sources. The motorized portable appliance includes an electric motor, a secondary battery and at least one other source of electrical power, and an automatic control to switch between the secondary battery and the other source of electrical power, which may be mains electrical power, an external secondary battery, an on-board secondary battery, an automotive battery, a solar photovoltaic array, or a primary battery. Power conditioning circuitry converts power from the various power sources to a form compatible with the electric motor and recovers remaining power from depleted primary batteries.
Abstract: Circuits and methods for protecting polarity-sensitive components, such as light emitting diodes, electrolytic capacitors or integrated circuits, operating from a DC current source including a DC motor, an inductor or relay having a positive terminal and a negative terminal for receiving current from the current source, a protection diode connected parallel with the positive and negative terminals of the motor in a reverse bias configuration, at least one polarity-sensitive component connected in parallel with the protection diode and the DC motor, and a polarity protection transistor connected either between the nominally positive current source terminal and the positive motor terminal, or between the nominally negative current source terminal and the negative motor terminal.
Abstract: A portable misting device having a body with an internal and fluid holding reservoir. A fill port provides for refilling of the fluid holding reservoir and one or more discharge ports are in fluidic communication with the reservoir. A fluid conveying conduit extends from the discharge port and terminates in an orifice. The orifice typically includes both spray misting and drinking components.
