Abstract: Cooking devices are disclosed that can cook food in a convenient, fast and energy-efficient manner with electromagnetic energy. In one embodiment, the device can comprise a food container wherein the container includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and an insulating exterior, a power source for RF electromagnetic energy, and a controller. In another embodiment, a cooking device in the form of a pouch containing food can directly preheat or cook food in the pouch. A variety of electrode embodiments and cooking devices including those with multiple compartments is disclosed.
