    Abstract: A gear shift lever assembly is disclosed wherein the assembly comprises a gear shift lever which is adapted to engage a gear shift mechanism of a vehicle and in which a further mechanism is provided to allow the gear shift lever to be attached and released from the gear shift mechanism only in positions in which the vehicle cannot be driven of its own power.
