Patent number: 11273049Abstract: Stand-alone interbody fusion devices and corpectomy devices suitable for use with an oblique implantation. The stand-alone interbody fusion devices may include a spacer having a substantially U-shaped body and a plate coupled to the spacer. The overall shape of the implant is asymmetrical such that a median plane, an oblique plane, or both planes divide the spacer and the plate into two asymmetrical halves. The implants are shaped and configured to allow for an oblique or anterolateral approach to the spine or an oblique corpectomy.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2019Date of Patent: March 15, 2022Assignee: Global Medical Inc.Inventors: Jeff Bennett, William Rhoda, Sean Suh, Daniel Davenport, Duncan Sibson, Andrew Iott, Nick Padovani

Patent number: 11062522Abstract: An augmented reality surgical system includes a head mounted display (HMD) with a see-through display screen, a motion sensor, a camera, and computer equipment. The motion sensor outputs a head motion signal indicating measured movement of the HMD. The computer equipment computes the relative location and orientation of reference markers connected to the HMD and to the patient based on processing a video signal from the camera. The computer equipment generates a three dimensional anatomical model using patient data created by medical imaging equipment, and rotates and scales at least a portion of the three dimensional anatomical model based on the relative location and orientation of the reference markers, and further rotate at least a portion of the three dimensional anatomical model based on the head motion signal to track measured movement of the HMD. The rotated and scaled three dimensional anatomical model is displayed on the display screen.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2019Date of Patent: July 13, 2021Assignee: Global Medical IncInventors: Kenneth Milton Jones, John Popoolapade, Thomas Calloway, Thierry Lemoine, Christian Jutteau, Christophe Bruzy, Yannick James, Joachim Laguarda, Dong-Mei Pei Xing, Sebastien Gorges, Paul Michael Yarin

Patent number: 11045179Abstract: A retractor mounting assembly including an end-effector having a body extending between first and second faces. The first face is configured for attachment to an interface plate on the robotic arm of a surgical robot. The second face defines an arm mount. An arm extending between first and second ends with the first end configured for attachment to the end-effector arm mount and the second end providing a retractor mount configured for supportive attachment of a retractor.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2019Date of Patent: June 29, 2021Assignee: Global Medical IncInventors: Paden Troxell, Andrew Berkowitz, James Cascarano, Stephen Cicchini

Patent number: 11039935Abstract: Expandable spinal implants and drivers connected by a bendable joint are disclosed. The flexible connector allows the implant and driver to move to different angular orientations with respect to each other, and to apply rotational force or torque from the driver to the implant and its expansion mechanism. During insertion of an implant into the desired position, the driver may be oriented in the same or different direction than the long axis of the implant. After the spinal implant is placed in the desired position, the driver is used to expand the implant in selected dimensions.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2019Date of Patent: June 22, 2021Assignee: Global Medical IncInventor: Paul C. Patent number: 11026800Abstract: A joint spacer therapeutically maintains separation of bones of a joint. A carriage is slideably retained within the frame and has at least one ramped surface. An actuator screw is threadably engaged with the frame, and rotatably connected to the carriage, to cause the carriage to slideably move within the frame when the actuator screw is rotated. First and second endplates engage the bones of the joint, and each has at least one ramped surface that is mateable with the ramped surface of the carriage, whereby when the carriage is slideably moved by rotation of the actuator screw, the endplates ramped surface slides against the carriage ramped surface to cause the endplates to move along an axis transverse to the longitudinal axis of the frame, to increase the height of the spacer. Piercing elements are connected to the carriage to pierce bone of the joint when the carriage is moved.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2019Date of Patent: June 8, 2021Assignee: Global Medical IncInventors: Jody L. Seifert, Chad Glerum, Mark Weiman, Mark Adams, David C. Paul, Jason Zappacosta

Patent number: 11006977Abstract: An implantable growing rod assembly adapted to be secured along a length of a spine for treating deformities of the spine. The assembly includes a housing, a fixed rod extending along a longitudinal axis away from the housing, and an expansion rod extendible from the housing along the longitudinal axis. A driver assembly is fixed to the housing and adapted to translate the expansion rod along the longitudinal axis.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2018Date of Patent: May 18, 2021Assignee: Global Medical IncInventors: Joshua Charest, Derrick Bingaman, Bobby Lynch

Patent number: 10980528Abstract: Retractor blade assemblies, retractors, kits, and methods of using the same. The retractor blade assembly may include a retractor blade, a pedicle screw, and a screw mount that connects the pedicle screw to the retractor blade. The retractor blade may have a proximal end configured to engage a retractor body and a distal end configured to retract soft tissue. The pedicle screw may have a head portion removably connected to the distal end of the retractor blade and a shaft portion configured to engage the pedicle of a vertebra. The screw mount couples the pedicle screw to the retractor blade.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2019Date of Patent: April 20, 2021Assignee: Global Medical IncInventors: Joel Cryder, Mark Weiman

Patent number: 8394419Abstract: The present invention provides novel methods of forming mineralized gelatin carriers from bone. The present invention further provides mineralized gelatin carriers themselves; bone products that include such mineralized gelatin carriers including DBM bone products; and kits that include mineralized gelatin carriers formed from bone. The present invention further provides methods for making DBM bone products, wherein both the DBM and a mineralized gelatin carrier for the DBM are derived independently from a bone lot.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2011Date of Patent: March 12, 2013Assignee: Global Medical, Inc.Inventor: Mark Borden
