  • Publication number: 20160306947
Abstract: Method, systems, and devices for designing a test molecule are disclosed. An example method includes using a molecular simulator to generate sets of simulation data. Each set of simulation data may include simulation data indicative of simulated locations in a solvent of (i) molecules of a reference molecule and (ii) molecules of one of M test molecules. The method may also include determining a probability of contact between an a species and a ? species for each set of simulated data. A contact may occur when a particle of the ? species is within a range of radials distances from a particle of the ? species. Each of the a species and the ? species may be one of the reference molecule, the solvent, or one of the M test molecules. The method may further include determining a simulation result based on at least one probability of contact.

  • Patent number: 9470133
Abstract: An internal combustion engine has a cooling jacket at least partially integrated in the cylinder head. The engine has two groups of cylinders: inside cylinders and outside cylinders. Each cylinder has at least one exhaust port, each leading to an individual duct. Individual ducts of outside cylinders converge to form an outside combined duct. In a four-cylinder engine or cylinder head, individual ducts of inside cylinders converge to form an inside combined duct with the inside combined duct remaining separated from the outside combined duct by the cooling jacket. The inside combined duct is farther away from the mounting surface of the cylinder head to the cylinder block than the outside combined duct. The cooling jacket includes upper, middle, and lower cooling jackets and connectors between the upper and lower cooling jackets.

  • Patent number: 9472977
Abstract: Hybrid and electric vehicles include a traction battery including many interconnected cells. Effective battery control, such as cell balancing, may rely on an accurate state of charge value for each of the cells. A method to reduce the computational effort of the state of charge calculation is developed. An accurate pack level state of charge calculation is implemented and represents the average cell state of charge. An average cell voltage is based on a pack voltage measurement. A state of charge difference is calculated for each cell based on a difference between a cell voltage and the average cell voltage. The state of charge difference utilizes the pack state of charge and a characteristic voltage and state of charge relationship for the cell. The cell state of charge is the sum of the pack state of charge and the state of charge difference.
