Abstract: In at least one embodiment, a fuel cell comprising a cathode flow field and a strip is provided. The cathode flow field plate defines a plurality of cathode channels for receiving a first fluid from a cathode source when the fuel cell is in an operational state. The strip includes a flexible first portion positioned about the plurality of cathode channels, the flexible first portion for moving toward the plurality of cathode channels to prevent a flow of the first fluid therein when the fuel cell is in an inoperative state.
Abstract: A synergistic microbicidal composition having two components. The first component is a nonionic surfactant with structure: R1O(CH2CH(CH3)O)5(CH2CH2O)9H, where R1 is a C8 alkyl group. The second component is 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one. The weight ratio of the nonionic surfactant to 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one is from 1:0.005 to 1:1.3714.

Abstract: A vehicle system includes a processing device programmed to receive a first user input signal and activate a car wash mode in response to receiving the first user input signal. Activating the car wash mode includes temporarily disabling at least one vehicle safety system. A method includes receiving the first user input signal, activating a vehicle car wash mode in response to receiving the first user input signal, receiving a second user input signal, and deactivating the car wash mode in response to receiving the second user input signal.
Abstract: A rear suspension system for a laterally tiltable, multitrack vehicle may include first and second trailing arms. The rear suspension system may further include first and second balancer systems acting between the first and second trailing arms. The first balancer system may create a torque to influence a leaning angle of the vehicle when the suspension system is in use. The second balancer system may suppress a resonant vertical motion of the vehicle when the suspension system is in use.

Abstract: Systems and methods for cancelling brake torque variation in a motor vehicle are disclosed. Signals indicative of brake torque variation are received at a controller. Based on the signals, a frequency associated with the indicated brake torque variation is determined. At least one of an output time and output volume of pressurized brake fluid is adjusted based on the frequency to cancel the indicated brake torque variation.

Abstract: Hydroxycarboxylic acids, e.g., 3-hydroxypropionic acid, and/or their ammonium salts are dehydrated to their corresponding unsaturated carboxylic acids, e.g., acrylic acid, by a process that uses a catalyst comprising ammonium bisulfate. The use of ammonium bisulfate reduces or eliminates the problems associated with processes that use sulfuric acid as a dehydrating catalyst, e.g, excess sulfuric acid consumption and/or recovery.

Abstract: Systems and methods for improving operation of an engine are presented. In one example, a threshold torque at which deactivated engine cylinders are reactivated is adjusted in response to a varying engine compression ratio. In other examples, the torque threshold is adjusted in response to a rate of change in engine torque and engine compression ratio.
Abstract: The present invention is a method for producing a film particularly well suited for shrink film applications, said method comprising the steps of selecting a target polyethylene resin and then increasing the melt strength of the polyethylene resin by reacting the polyethylene resin with an alkoxy amine derivative, and then forming a film from the reacted target polyethylene.

Abstract: A vehicle seating assembly includes a seat base. First and second independent thigh supports are pivotally coupled to the seat base. A support rod extends below the first and second independent thigh supports and is operably coupled to each of the first and second independent thigh supports by a gasket member and a bracket. A first spring member includes a body portion in abutting contact with an underside of the first independent thigh support and includes legs engaged with the support rod. The first spring member biases the first independent thigh support to a raised position. A second spring member includes a body portion in abutting contact with an underside of the second independent thigh support and includes legs engaged with the support rod. The second spring member biases the second independent thigh support to a raised position.
