Abstract: Presented are ramp lock extractor (RLE) lift tools for disassembling multipart assemblies, methods for making/using such lift tools, and vehicles with multipart assembly modules disassembled by such lift tools. A method of separating first and second component bodies joined together via an adhesive includes aligning an RLE lift tool with an RLE key slot that extends through the first component body. The lift tool includes multiple ramp pins projecting outward from lateral sides of a tool stem. The key slot includes multiple helical ramps located on lateral sides of a through-hole. The lift tool inserts into the key slot until a distal tip of the tool stem abuts the second component body. The lift tool rotates within the key slot to slide the ramp pins along the helical ramps, causing the tool stem's distal tip to press against the second component body and thereby separate the two component bodies.

Abstract: A system for identifying adversarial behavior directed to an autonomous vehicle includes a pedestrian detection system in communication with a vehicle controller adapted to identify a pedestrian within proximity of the autonomous vehicle, track the pedestrian, determine if the pedestrian is intending to cross in front of the autonomous vehicle, and if the pedestrian tracking system determines that the pedestrian is not intending to cross in front of the autonomous vehicle, the pedestrian tracking system is further adapted to continue tracking the pedestrian, and if the pedestrian tracking system determines that the pedestrian is intending to cross in front of the autonomous vehicle, the pedestrian tracking system is further adapted to determine, with an adversarial intent algorithm, if the pedestrian is exhibiting any adversarial behavior.
Abstract: A fuel system comprises a first fuel rail. A first fuel delivery system, including a first plurality of fuel injectors, is connected to the first fuel rail. The first plurality of fuel injectors injects an amount of fuel into a first portion of an engine. A second fuel rail has a second fuel delivery system, including a second plurality of fuel injectors. The second plurality of fuel injectors inject an amount of fuel into a second portion of the engine, distinct from the first portion. A controller, operatively connected to the first fuel delivery system and the second fuel delivery system selectively enables and disables operation of the first fuel delivery system and the second fuel delivery system based on one of a detected temperature and a detected pressure of fuel passing to corresponding ones of the first plurality of fuel injectors and the second plurality of fuel injectors.
Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling treatment of exhaust in a emission control system of a platform having an combustion system and one or more selective catalyst reduction catalysts (SCR) is provided. In an exemplary embodiment, the system includes: one or more sensors configured to obtain sensor data pertaining to an SCR temperature for the SCR; and a processor that is coupled to the one or more sensors and configured to at least facilitate controlling treatment of the exhaust based on the SCR temperature.
Abstract: A system and method for trajectory planning selects a trajectory from a plurality of candidate trajectories to direct an autonomous vehicle. The system includes a controller in communication with a global positioning system (GPS) and at least one sensor. The GPS receives a plurality of global scene information. The at least one sensor collects local scene information. The controller is programmed to receive global scene information and local scene information, identify the location of the occluding obstacle. Additionally, the controller is programmed to determine an occluded portion of the roadway, identify a location of the scene actors on the roadway, and calculate a contracted occluded portion within the occluded portion. Furthermore, the system generates candidate trajectories for the autonomous vehicle to travel along, score the candidate trajectories, and select one of the candidate trajectories based on the assigned score.

Abstract: A paint bell cup for directing a spray of paint onto a surface includes a cup body having an outer surface, an inner conical surface having a circumferential edge, and a stem extending from the outer surface. The stem includes a passage that delivers paint toward the inner conical surface. The cup body includes one or more spray control features that extend along the inner conical surface toward the circumferential edge. The one or more spray control features promote a selected uniform droplet size of the paint traveling from the stem toward the circumferential edge.

Abstract: A motor vehicle motion control health monitoring system includes sensors and actuators disposed on the motor vehicle. The sensors measure real-time static and dynamic telemetry data about the motor vehicle, and the actuators alter static and dynamic behavior of the motor vehicle. A control module has a processor, a memory, and input/output (I/O) ports. The processor executes program code portions stored in the memory, the program code portions include: an offline portion that collects telemetry data from the motor vehicle, performs failure analysis on the telemetry data and allocates tasks based on the failure analysis; and an online portion that analyzes the telemetry data for failures within specific sensors, actuators, or functions that utilize systems of sensors and/or actuators. The online portion mitigates deviations in the telemetry data by sending a correction to the one or more sensors, actuators, and/or functions of a motor vehicle motion control system.
Abstract: A method is provided for operating a vehicle having an interior control setting system with a computer. One or more occupant input devices generate an occupant input signal associated with sensor data, which indicates a total number of occupants, a classification, and a current emotion for each occupant disposed in the vehicle. One or more processors uses multiple occupant profiles, with each occupant profile mapped to a unique occupant identification and a plurality of actuated interior control settings, to determine an n-occupant emotion vector based on the total number of the occupants and the classification for each occupant. The processor maps the n-occupant emotion vector to interior control settings and determines a predicted interior control setting for the occupant. The processor generates an actuation signal associated with the predicted interior control setting, such that one or more actuators actuate a vehicle component based on the predicted interior control setting.
Abstract: A display obscuration tool for identifying one or more obscured zones within a display, such as surface areas of the display blocked from view. The tool may include a spatial detection module configured for determining a relative positioning between a display onboard a vehicle, a steering wheel or other implement onboard the vehicle, and a driver, and a gaze detection module configured for determining a field of view for the driver. The tool may further include an obscuration module configured for identifying one or more obscured zones based at least in part on the relative positioning and the field of view.
