Patent number: 6897984Abstract: A method of chromakey recording, which includes providing, in a scene, a chromakey material which is capable of continued luminance without activating light. The chromakey material is activated and the scene is recorded without activating light while the chromakey material is luminescing. The chromakey material may be an electroluminescent material that is activated by applying electrical energy to the chromakey material. The chromakey material may also be a phosphorescent material, which is activated by applying light to the phosphorescent material. The light is removed from the phosphorescent material during recording.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2002Date of Patent: May 24, 2005Assignee: GlobalStreams, Inc.Inventor: David Warthen

Patent number: 6535634Abstract: A method of compressing a video image comprising a two-dimensional array of pixels, the image being divided into an array of contiguous blocks, the method comprising the steps of: (1) calculating, for each pixel within a block, a difference between a predicted luminance and an actual luminance; (2) assigning a frequency characteristic to the block based on a magnitude of the differences of the pixels within the block; (3) determining, for each pixel within the block, a quantized difference code based on the calculated difference and the assigned frequency characteristic; and (4) storing the frequency characteristic of the block and the quantized difference codes for each pixel within the block; and wherein the step of assigning comprises calculating a sum of the squares of the differences of all pixels within the block, and selecting the frequency characteristic from a set of predetermined frequency characteristics based on the calculated sum.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 1999Date of Patent: March 18, 2003Assignee: GlobalStreams, Inc.Inventor: Stephan D. Patent number: 6501484Abstract: A system and method for high definition video rescaling comprises receiving a source image including source pixels each having an associated amplitude, creating destination pixel locations for a rescaled image in accordance with a resealing factor, providing a normalized filter function, multiplying the normalized filter function with the amplitude of each source pixel to produce a filter function for each source pixel, and summing together the filter functions for the source pixels to generate a reconstructed function. The reconstructed function is sampled at the destination pixel locations to provide amplitudes for destination pixels. The amplitudes of the destination pixels are then incorporated into a rescaled image. The filter function is preferably a sinc product function.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1999Date of Patent: December 31, 2002Assignee: Globalstreams, Inc.Inventor: David Porter

Patent number: 6380950Abstract: The present invention is concerned with client-side production in a personal computer environment of low bandwidth images and audio. A series of low bandwidth still images along with a “script” and audio data is sent over a network in a client/server architecture or is read from a compact disk or other memory. A “director” module residing in a client personal computer uses the “script” to tell the computer how to execute a sequence of “moves” on the still images. These moves include cuts, dissolves, fades, wipes, focuses, flying planes and digital video effects such as push and pull. Moves within a still image occur in real time, and are relatively smooth and continuous as compared to prior art network video. Low bandwidth is achieved because most of the production is done at the client location without relying upon slow, bandwidth-limited downloading of conventional network video formats.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1999Date of Patent: April 30, 2002Assignee: GlobalStreams, Inc.Inventors: Joseph Paul Montgomery, Michael Richard Young Moore, Stephen A. Patent number: 6357603Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for reliably, securely, and conveniently securing a computer card within a computer chassis. According to one embodiment, the computer card is first secured to a card bracket that includes an upper lip and a bottom tab. The card bracket is then mounted on the computer chassis by inserting the upper lip in an upper lip aperture formed in the computer chassis and inserting the bottom tab in a slot formed in the chassis. After the computer cards at issue have been thus mounted in the computer chassis, an elongated capture member is lowered into engagement with top portions of the card brackets and fastened to the chassis to sandwich the card bracket top portions between the computer chassis and the capture member. The capture member is pivotally secured to the chassis by a hinge to permit the capture member to be selectively pivoted into and out of engagement with the card brackets.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2000Date of Patent: March 19, 2002Assignee: GlobalStreams, Inc.Inventor: Gerald A.
