Abstract: A method is provided for sorting bank notes using a bank note processing apparatus having an at least one input receptacle, at least one identification unit, and a plurality of stacker units. The method includes receiving the bank notes in the input receptacle or receptacles. The bank notes are identified when passed through or by the identification unit or units. The bank notes are sorted into the plurality of stacker units according to the results of the identification, which includes stacking each of one or more change funds into at least one stacker unit and stacking the remaining bank notes into at least one stacker unit. Each change fund includes a predetermined value and two or more predetermined denominations.
