    Abstract: A lap belt pretensioner for a lap belt configured to secure an occupant of a vehicle seat includes a pyrotechnic device. The pyrotechnic device is configured to generate a force directed to tension the lap belt around the occupant and emit an exhaust gas including particulates at high pressure and high temperature as a byproduct of the generated force. The lap belt pretensioner also includes a housing configured to retain the pyrotechnic device and defining an exhaust passage configured to expel the exhaust gas from the lap belt pretensioner. The lap belt pretensioner additionally includes a shield arranged over the exhaust passage and configured to collect and/or deflect the emitted particulates and dissipate heat energy thereof. A vehicle having the vehicle seat mounted to the vehicle structure and employing the seatbelt system is also provided.

The outlet opening(s) is situated in the housing so that it can communicate with a first clearance, with a second clearance, or with both the first and second clearances. The first clearance is established at the confrontation of one of the first roots and one of the second tips. And the second clearance is established at the confrontation of one of the second roots and one of the first tips.

The method includes determining a clutch pedal position and determining, via a controller, a clutch pedal speed based on a change of the clutch pedal position over time. The method further includes modifying, via the controller, the current torque request to obtain a modified torque request based on the clutch pedal position and the clutch pedal speed such that a stored potential energy in the driveline is minimized by a time that the clutch pedal of the vehicle system is disengaged during the declutch event.

The macro scan is held at a first fixed macro potential within the first range of macro potential and the sample is micro scanned while held at the first fixed macro potential. Micro scanning is applied at individual points across a surface portion of the sample and includes measuring a plurality of first micro currents at each of the individual points of the surface portion of the sample. Each individual point is significantly smaller than the entire sample.

    Abstract: An electrical system includes a rechargeable energy storage system (RESS) and a controller. The RESS includes first and second battery packs connected to a voltage bus, each pack having a respective plurality of battery cells and a corresponding cell balancing circuit. The controller executes a method by detecting a requested series to parallel mode transition. Responsive to a threshold imbalance being present in a state of charge or pack voltage of the packs relative to each other, the controller balances the state of charge/voltage using open/closed state control of the cell balancing circuits, and possibly a switching block having PWM-controlled switches and a circuit element. The controller may execute the requested mode transition upon balancing.

    Abstract: A battery module includes battery cells and a cell monitoring unit (CMU). The CMU includes a radio frequency (RF) communications circuit and a cell sense circuit connected to a substrate, the latter in wireless communication with the RF communications circuit. The cell sense circuit measures battery data, including a cell voltage and a cell temperature of each battery cell. The CMU includes a microprocessor in communication with the RF communications and cell sense circuits. The microprocessor determines when the battery module has been dormant for a predetermined dormancy duration during which the battery cells are neither charging nor discharging. Responsive to such dormancy, a Long-Term Data Storage Mode is executed in which the RF communications circuit paired with the cell sense circuit, collects the battery data at a calibrated interval, and wirelessly transmits the battery data to flash memory of the CMU for storage therein.
