Patent number: 11995989Abstract: To visualize planned behavior of an autonomous vehicle (AV) traveling along a roadway, a user interface engine receives data describing a planned pathway of the AV along the roadway and object data describing an object having a predicted pathway crossing the planned pathway of the AV at a cross point. The user interface engine classifies the object either an asserting object or a yielding object based on a prediction of whether the object reaches the cross point before the AV or after the AV. The user interface engine generates an image that includes the planned pathway of the AV and the object in the environment of the AV. The image of the object indicates whether the object is classified as an asserting object or a yielding object.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2020Date of Patent: May 28, 2024Assignee: GM Cruise Holdings LLCInventors: Brian Laurence Clark, Michael Alan Huff, Flavius Popescu, Chad Lawrence Bettencourt, Tejeswara Reddy Pogula, Yuxi Zhang, Jiajian Zhou, Christophe Philippona, Tal Benisty, Myung Jin Kim

Publication number: 20240171111Abstract: Apparatus and techniques for analyzing a capacitance value in an electric motor inverter are disclosed. A processor is coupled to a DC-AC inverter, which includes a capacitor across its terminals and is powered by a battery. The processor performs resistor switching to enable singular, periodic measurement of the capacitance. The measured value is compared with a nominal or beginning of life (BOL) value. An alert may be sent if the capacitance has degraded beyond a threshold. In other aspects, the DC torque ripple envelop is used to measure capacitance. The outcome is compared with the other tests to assess consistency. An inconsistent outcome may identify potential resistor degradation.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 18, 2022Publication date: May 23, 2024Applicant: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLCInventors: Muhammad H. Publication number: 20240171568Abstract: Malicious users (or hackers) can take advantage of user devices on or communicably connected to an autonomous vehicle (AV) to gain unauthorized access to AV subsystems (e.g., AV compute system, AV sensors, AV controls system, and AV cabin system). To address this concern, a one-way Ethernet communication link can be placed between the AV subsystems and the user devices. The one-way communication link can physically ensure that the user devices may only receive content from the AV systems, and that the user devices may not send data to the AV systems on the one-way communication link. A feature-limited backchannel that may be normally used for transporting audio data on a daisy-chained bus can be used by the user devices to transmit (8-bit) code words that correspond to specific messages to convey messages back to the AV systems.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2022Publication date: May 23, 2024Applicant: GM Cruise Holdings LLCInventors: Christopher Valasek, Charles Miller

Publication number: 20240169035Abstract: Restrictions at launch-time can ensure that specific types of AV stacks are launched and ensure the software release is launched only during certain times. Restrictions at runtime can ensure that certain operations are prohibited while the software release is running on the autonomous vehicle. Enforcing restrictions at launch-time and runtime is not trivial. A schema can be used to encode the restrictions. Restrictions may be included in a manifest of the software release. The manifest having the restrictions can be cryptographically signed. Components can be implemented to verify and enforce these restrictions on the AV. As a result, more kinds of restrictions and more complex restrictions can be applied for software releases for the AV.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2022Publication date: May 23, 2024Applicant: GM Cruise Holdings LLCInventors: Collin Mulliner, Graziano Misuraca, George Albertson, Liam Staskawicz
