  • Patent number: 11255241
Abstract: Selective catalytic reaction (SCR) failure detection systems and methods for propulsion systems. The method includes obtaining (a) an upstream (of the SCR unit) NOx concentration value, and (b) a downstream NOx concentration value, and caching (a) and (b). The obtaining and caching is repeated until N cached values are obtained, where N is a preprogrammed number. Using the N cached values, an upstream average of NOx, an upstream standard deviation, a downstream average of NOx, and a downstream standard deviation are calculated. The calculated values are input for a failure detection algorithm pertaining to nitrogen oxides (NOx) that generates a linear correlation factor. A best performing unacceptable (BPU) part is detected when the linear correlation factor is greater than a preprogrammed fail threshold.

  • Patent number: 11254223
Abstract: An electric propulsion system includes a battery pack and a DC-DC converter. The converter has a bypass switch and semiconductor switches. A traction power inverter module (“TPIM”) rectifies a DC bus voltage on the voltage bus to produce an AC bus voltage. An electric machine is connected to the TPIM and energized via the AC bus voltage. A controller calculates required output power from the converter based on a requested operating mode, and speed and torque of the electric machine. When the output power exceeds a threshold, the bypass switch closes to bypass the converter. When the output power is less than the threshold, the controller uses a minimum loss voltage from a loss map as a target control voltage of the converter to optimize efficiency of the electric propulsion system.

  • Patent number: 11254286
Abstract: One general aspect includes a system to restrict vehicle operations, the system including: a memory configured to include one or more executable instructions and a processor configured to execute the executable instructions, where the executable instructions enable the processor to carry out the following steps: receiving a vehicle-occupant credential; determining whether the vehicle-occupant credential triggers an operation constraint; and when the operation constraint is triggered, restricting a vehicle from operating in an autonomous driving mode.

  • Patent number: 11255006
Abstract: A steel alloy workpiece and a method for making a press-hardened steel (PHS) component using the steel alloy workpiece is provided. The steel alloy workpiece includes between about 1.0 and 5.0 weight percent chromium, between about 0.5 and 2.0 weight percent silicon, and a surface having a predetermined imprinted pattern. The imprinted pattern includes one of a plurality of overlapping nested sinusoidal waves and a honey-comb pattern, and ascribes a surface roughness of between about 1.0 microns and 2.5 microns. The method includes providing the steel alloy workpiece, heating the workpieces at a predetermined time and temperature, hot stamping the workpieces into the PHS component, quenching the PHS component at a predetermined quench rate, and e-coating the PHS component. The e-coating is applied directly onto the surface of the PHS component.

  • Publication number: 20220051037
Abstract: A vehicle includes one or more cameras that capture a plurality of two-dimensional images of a three-dimensional object. A light detector and/or a semantic classifier search within those images for lights of the three-dimensional object. A vehicle signal detection module fuses information from the light detector and/or the semantic classifier to produce a semantic meaning for the lights. The vehicle can be controlled based on the semantic meaning. Further, the vehicle can include a depth sensor and an object projector. The object projector can determine regions of interest within the two-dimensional images, based on the depth sensor. The light detector and/or the semantic classifier can use these regions of interest to efficiently perform the search for the lights.

  • Patent number: 11247571
Abstract: An energy management system for a vehicle is disclosed. The vehicle includes one or more power sources configured to provide power to one or more recipients. The system includes a controller configured to determine an arbitration vector based at least partially on a state vector and an initial transformation function. The arbitration vector is determined as one or more points for which the initial transformation function attains a maximum value. The controller is configured to determine a current reward based on the arbitration vector and the state vector, the current reward being configured to minimize energy loss in the power sources. The controller is configured to determine an updated transformation function based at least partially on the initial transformation function and a total reward. The controller is configured to arbitrate a power distribution based in part on the updated arbitration vector.

  • Patent number: 11249165
Abstract: A hyperbolic waveform multiple-input multiple-output radar includes a generator circuit, multiple transmit circuits, a multiple-input multiple-output antenna, and multiple receive circuits. The generator circuit may be operable to generate a linear frequency modulated signal and a hyperbolic frequency modulated signal. The transmit circuits may be operable to generate multiple transmit signals by analog mixing the linear frequency modulated signal and the hyperbolic frequency modulated signal in response to a plurality of coding family parameters, wherein the transmit signals define an orthogonal family of waveforms. The multiple-input multiple-output antenna may be operable to transmit the transmit signals toward an object and receive multiple receive signals from the object. The receive circuits may be operable to determine multiple data signals in response to the receive signals, wherein the data signals are suitable to determine a distance between the multiple-input multiple-output antenna and the object.
