  • Publication number: 20110263375
Abstract: A switchable free-wheel arrangement for a CVT transmission of a motor vehicle. Clamping bodies held in a cage are disposed between an outer ring and an inner ring. Each clamping body can be pressed with a relatively high force against the inner ring by an energy accumulator. The clamping bodies can be set up in the release direction or in the clamping direction by a switching mechanism. The energy accumulator generates a relative small setup force for setting up the clamping bodies. The energy accumulator includes two torsion springs disposed on the clamping body. It can, however, also have the shape of a helical spring that surrounds the clamping bodies and engages therein in special helical spring grooves.

  • Publication number: 20110262967
Abstract: The present invention refers to the area of cell culture technology and relates to methods for multiplying/cloning cells, preferably cell lines, which are important to the production of biopharmaceuticals. The invention further relates to methods for manufacturing proteins and to the use of cells extracted and multiplied through single cell sorting and to media compositions that enable a multiplication of single cells. Through the use of albumin-producing, preferably HSA-producing, cells as feeder cells for the conditioning of medium or as host cells, the recloning efficiency and thereby the quantity of clones obtained can be significantly increased. A combination of these approaches is also possible. Through the use of albumin-producing, preferably HSA-producing, cells, an increase in the recloning efficiency can be achieved in serum-free and/or insulin-free medium as well, and in different cell types.

  • Publication number: 20110260350
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for blow-molding containers are disclosed. A parison made of a thermoplastic material is first subjected to a thermal treatment in the zone of a heating section along a conveying path. The parison is then shaped into the container within a blow mold under the effect of a blowing pressure. Once the container has been blow-molded, a wall thickness is measured on at least one vertical level of the container. A preset value for the wall thickness is fed to a controller as a desired value, and the measured wall thickness is fed thereto as an actual value. The controller presets the quantity of at least one parameter influencing the blowing process in accordance with a difference between the desired value and the actual value. More specifically, the controller presets the quantity of at least one parameter influencing the supply of blowing gas. The quantity of the parameter is preset on the basis of a blowing process simulation model implemented in the controller.

  • Publication number: 20110261857
Abstract: A viable strategy to enhance the bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs is to use amorphous solids in place of the more commonly used crystalline solids in pharmaceutical formulations. However, amorphous solids are physically meta-stable and tend to revert back to their crystalline counterpart. An effective approach to stabilizing an amorphous drug against crystallization is to disperse it in a polymer matrix. The drug's solubility in the chosen polymer defines the upper limit of drug loading without any risk of crystallization. Measuring the solubility of a drug in a polymer has been a scientific and technological challenge because the high viscosity of polymers makes achieving solubility equilibrium difficult and because pharmaceutically important drug/polymer dispersions are glasses, which undergo structural relaxation over time. The invention provides a method based on Differential Scanning calorimetry (DSC) for measuring the solubility of crystalline drugs in polymeric matrices.
