  • Patent number: 5566864
Abstract: A container having a screw cap and a lower closure member to be connected to the container opening by a base member with a pouring spout connected thereto by an extendible bellows. The screw cap is adapted to be screwed onto and off the pouring spout. In order to render the closure childproof the pouring spout of the lower closure member, beyond its external thread, in a transitional region directed towards the bellows, carries a catch projection, which in the screwing-on direction comprises a gradually rising flank and merges into a steep flank. The cap side wall in the fully screwed-on position is in positive engagement with the catch projection and prevents unscrewing of the screw cap. By pressing inwardly the bellows in the region of the catch projection, the positive engagement between the screw cap and the pouring spout is cancelled and the screw cap is released for being unscrewed.

  • Patent number: 5566604
Abstract: A machine for producing braid or circular knit fabric has a withdrawal unit for the continuous product driven by a synchronous motor receiving its drive signal from a digital frequency converter. A pulse generator connected with the main motor of the machine produces pulses representing the speed of the main motor which are integrated and applied to a multiplier introducing the proportionality factor between the main drive and the withdrawal drive. That multiplier has an output which is applied as the input to the digital frequency converter.

  • Patent number: 5564165
Abstract: A method of detaching fiber tufts from top surfaces of fiber bales which are set up in a fiber bale series along a travelling bale opener that operates with a vertically displaceable tuft-detaching device. The method includes the following steps: the bale height of all the bales of the series carried by the bale opener is determined by sensors; then data representing the bale height of the bale series, a vertical feed for the bales in the series having a minimum bale height and the determined bale height for all bales without feed change are inputted in a computer; then a proportionately higher feed for bales other than those having the minimum bale height is determined; and fiber tufts are detached from the top bale surfaces utilizing the predetermined feeds.

  • Patent number: 5564867
Abstract: An adjustable support column for use between ceiling and floor surfaces of a mine has an outer tube having an outer end braced against one of the surfaces and an inner end and an inner tube having an inner end in the outer tube at the inner end thereof and an outer end braced against the other surface. The tubes are coaxial to an upright axis and a wedge ring carried externally on the inner tube is tapered toward the outer tube and engageable in the inner end of the outer tube for resiliently resisting telescoping of the inner tube into the outer tube with a predetermined force and for permitting telescoping of the inner tube into the outer tube when the tubes are pressed axially together with a force greater than the predetermined force. Formations on the inner tube engage the ring for axially displacing the ring along the inner tube and fix the ring on the inner tube at any of a multiplicity of locations therealong.

  • Patent number: 5565663
Abstract: An electrical switch comprises a housing provided with at least one fixed contact part and one switching contact part, which moves in cooperation therewith. At least one actuating element is movably mounted in the housing. The actuating element influences switching positions of the switching contact part. Also disclosed is a camform which defines the switching positions and which interacts with a spring-loaded plunger associated with the actuating element in order to create operating forces. Moreover, a displaceable spring-loaded retaining device is disposed within the housing which enables the electrical switch to be held firmly in a locked position. Finally, at least one actuating element cooperates with a retaining device through a transfer device so that by use of increased force, the actuating element is brought into a functional position which does not correspond with any of the switching positions.

  • Patent number: 5564356
Abstract: A piece of textile goods is selvedged along an edge extending between ends of the piece by gripping a strip of the piece offset from the edge and displacing it parallel to the edge at a constant travel speed such that successive portions of the edge pass through a plurality of folding stations followed by a sewing station. The edge is folded over as it passes through the folding stations and the folded-over edge is stitched together in the sewing station. The portions are gripped in each station upstream of the sewing station as they pass through. To eliminate an out-of-square condition the gripped portion is advanced when it is adjacent one end of the goods at a speed that is greater than the constant travel speed, the gripped portion is advanced when it is adjacent the other end of the goods at a speed which is less than the constant travel speed, and the gripped portion is advanced when it is offset the ends of the goods at a speed which is substantially equal to the constant travel speed.

  • Patent number: 5564161
Abstract: The vacuum cleaner nozzle of the present invention has a nozzle body with a suction pipe connecting piece and a bottom plate which closes off the nozzle body towards the bottom, whereby the bottom plate is provided with at least one flow channel open towards the bottom to allow air to flow into a suction channel centrally connected to the suction pipe connecting piece, said nozzle body being provided with sealing or closing elements which surrounds the flow channel at least in part. The nozzle body and the bottom plate are made in the form of a one-piece supporting base into which the flow channel or the flow channels and the suction channel are directly molded. The sealing or closing elements in the form of bristle strips and/or sealing lips are molded directly into the bottom plate and/or are pressed, injected or glued into it. This design reduces the number of components of the vacuum cleaner nozzle considerably so that a significant simplification is achieved with respect to manufacture and assembly.

  • Patent number: 5564573
Abstract: The timber (2) passes in a direction of movement (3) between successive clamping roller pairs (27, 26), between which a test roller (48) imposes a flexible bending f.sub.D on the timber (2). The imposed flexible bending f.sub.D is maintained at least approximately constant by controlling a setting drive (70) by means of a computer (83). Any possible natural curvature of the timber (2) is measured by measuring elements (80, 81) and is taken into account. The thickness (d) of the timber is also measured without contact by measuring elements (81, 82). The restoring force is measured by a force measuring device (68) and the position of the test roller (48) transversely to the direction of movement (3) is measured by a distance transducer (77).

  • Patent number: 5562545
Abstract: The axis of rotation of a disc body made of rubber-elastic material is surrounded by a plurality of mutually spaced bushings and loop sets consisting of string loops which are wrapped around the bushings in pairs. Supporting rings are slipped axially on the bushings to hold the loop sets together axially. The supporting rings each comprise an annular disc having teeth which project radially inwardly and anchor firmly on the corresponding bushing. In this manner the greatest possible space in axial direction of the bushings is saved for installation of the loop sets, at a given overall thickness of the flexible disc.
