Abstract: Cutting apparatus is provided which includes clamping apparatus with two clamping members movable between a clamped position, wherein a portion of the saw blade is secured in position in use, and an unclamped position, wherein the saw blade is movable with respect to the clamping members. The apparatus is attached to or is integrally formed with shaft means which are substantially circular in cross section. The apparatus also includes the ability for user selection to operate the apparatus as a jigsaw or a scroller by operation of a locking mechanism.

Abstract: The invention relates to a power tool with a reciprocating blade, such as a jigsaw, in which the blade can have linear and pendulum movement components imparted thereon and also to a blade holder assembly. There is provided a bearing for a holder member which allows control of the movement of the holder in relation to both movement components, said bearing including a first part though which the holder member passes and a second part in relation to which the holder member and the first part are movable.

Abstract: The invention relates to the provision of a power tool such as a jigsaw, circular saw or mitre saw which is provided with guideline generating means. The guidelines are typically generated as laser beams and the invention allows for the generation of at least first and second, side by side guidelines. The guidelines are generated onto the workpiece and the area which lies between the guidelines defines the path along which a cutting blade of the power tool is to be directed. Preferably the guidelines are spaced such that a first guideline lies to one side of the blade and the other guideline lies to the other side of the blade thus allowing the guidelines to be viewable on both sides during the cutting operation.

Abstract: A power tool including a housing for an electric motor and a mounting for a disc having a housing, wherein the motor is arranged to drive the saw blade about its axis. The housing includes at least one guard member covering a peripheral portion of said disc and a debris conduit allowing removal of debris from the disc during use in a first cutting mode. A removable member is attachable to the housing to selectively block the debris conduit such that the tool can be used in a second cutting mode.

A drive means is associated with the blade cylinder and operable to cause rotation of the blade cylinder. The drive means is located within the housing, above the axis of rotation of the blade cylinder and a chip an debris removal channel passes from the location of the cylinder to the rear end of the planer.

Abstract: A cutting tool is provided for performing a cutting operation The tool includes a cutting blade provided for movement to perform the cutting operation and a guard which covers at least part of the cutting blade. The tool further includes cleaning means, the cleaning means including a cleaning part positionable within the guard and controllable to allow relative movement between the guard and the said cleaning part.
