Publication number: 20010016184Abstract: A system for treating the exhaust of an industrial process or combustion source to capture gaseous sulfur compounds which includes contacting the exhaust containing gaseous sulfur compounds with a system of: (1) a structured support coated with for example a monolith (2) a ceramic oxide containing for example TiO2 (3) a precious metal component for example Pt and optionally (4) a modifier such as Cu. The system captures the gaseous sulfur compounds. Gaseous sulfur compounds are then driven off in higher concentrations in a separate isolated lower flow stream in higher concentrations which are easier to process to less noxious or useful sulfur materials, and the catalyst/sorber regenerated. The system also removes carbon dioxide by the oxidation of the carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2001Publication date: August 23, 2001Applicant: GOAL LINE ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGIES LLCInventors: Larry E. Sequential adsorptive capture and catalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds in a reactor bed
Patent number: 6251347Abstract: A method for adsorbing and oxidizing VOC's in the same bed, thus reducing the size of or even eliminating the need for a catalytic or thermal oxidation unit at the end of the system. In this system, a catalyst is intimately interspersed with the adsorbent material. The catalyst oxidizes VOC's released during desorption when it reaches the ‘light off temperature,’ that is, the catalyst temperature necessary for oxidation to begin. As VOC's are desorbed, they are combusted by the catalyst in the same bed and also by their combustion, heat the bed to aid in the desorption of VOC's elsewhere in the bed.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1999Date of Patent: June 26, 2001Assignee: Goal Line Environmental Technologies LLCInventors: Larry E. Patent number: 6121189Abstract: A catalyst system useful at room temperature for the destruction of ozone (O.sub.3), has washcoat of high surface area support containing Mn/Cu catalyst deposited on a macroporous carrier, such as a honeycomb monolith, optionally with the addition of noble metal (such as Pt) washcoat to remove carbon monoxide.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1998Date of Patent: September 19, 2000Assignee: Goal Line Environmental Technologies LLCInventors: Larry E. Campbell, Michele W. Sanders

Patent number: 6037307Abstract: A system for treating the exhaust of an industrial process or combustion source to remove gaseous sulfur compounds which includes contacting the exhaust containing gaseous sulfur compounds with a catalytic system of a structured support for example a monolith coated with: (i) a metal oxide sorber component selected from the group consisting of Ti, Zr, Hf, Ce, Al, Si and mixtures thereof, for example TiO.sub.2 (ii) a precious metal component, for example Pt metal and optionally (iii) a modifier consisting of an oxide Ag, Cu, Bi, Sb, Sn, As, In, Pb, Au or mixtures thereof, such as Cu as a compound. The system captures the gaseous sulfur compounds. Gaseous sulfur compounds are then driven off as mainly H.sub.2 S and SO.sub.2 in higher concentrations in a separate isolated lower flow stream. The higher concentrations are easier to process to less noxious or useful sulfur materials and the catalyst/sorber is regenerated.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1998Date of Patent: March 14, 2000Assignee: Goal Line Environmental Technologies LLCInventors: Larry E. Patent number: 5953911Abstract: Hydrocarbon in a carrier of nitrogen or steam is passed over a devitalized supported noble metal/alkali or alkaline earth catalyst/absorber, such as Pt on an alumina monolith coated with potassium carbonate, which has sorbed NOx from engine exhaust to restore and regenerate the devitalized catalyst/absorber for reuse. The hydrocarbon undergoes a shift reaction to produce CO in situ which is the reactant gas for the regeneration.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 1998Date of Patent: September 21, 1999Assignee: Goal Line Environmental Technologies LLCInventors: Eugene D. Guth, Larry E. Campbell, Gregory J. Wagner

Patent number: 5762885Abstract: An apparatus for regenerating a catalyst absorber after contact with a combustion exhaust which consist of a pair of cooperating louvered doors one on each side of a bed of catalyst absorber, there being at least two beds such that closing a cooperating pair of louvers, isolates the bed contained between the louvers from the exhaust gases while the other bed is left with the louvers open to continue treating the exhaust gas. Between each pair of louvers and associated with the catalyst absorber bed between the respective pair of louvers, there are positioned a regeneration inlet nozzle and a used regeneration gas outlet. By selectively closing various pairs of the louvers, a portion of the bed can be regenerated while the remainder of the bed continues to treat the exhaust gases. In this way an equivalent amount of active or regenerated catalyst absorber is in contact with the combustion exhaust gases to maintain a specified outlet pollution concentration limit.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1997Date of Patent: June 9, 1998Assignee: Goal Line Environmental Technologies LLCInventors: Lawrence Debbage, Thomas A.
