Abstract: A miniature movement system that includes a plurality of modular platforms and a plurality of magnet-reactive metal plates. Each modular platform of the plurality of modular platforms includes a plurality of sides defining a center cavity. Each magnet-reactive metal plate of the plurality of magnet-reactive metal plates is configured to be received in the center cavity of a respective modular platform. A first modular platform of the plurality of modular platforms is configured to be removably coupled to at least a second modular platform of the plurality of modular platforms.

Abstract: A planetary gear system for setting a drive ratio of a transmission includes an outer ring gear; a plurality of planetary gears; an inner sun gear; a first rotary input coupled to one of the outer ring gear, the plurality of planetary gears, and the inner sun gear; a second rotary input coupled to another one of the outer ring gear, the plurality of planetary gears, and the inner sun gear; and a rotary output coupled to a remaining one of the outer ring gear, the plurality of planetary gears the inner sun gear. In some cases, the planetary gear system is combined with a second planetary gear system, and the first rotary input of the planetary gear system and the first rotary input of the second planetary gear system are the same, allowing generation of two independent outputs from three inputs.

Abstract: A vacuum cleaner has wheels which can rotate in one direction only, when the body of the cleaner is inclined to the horizontal, such as when the cleaner is disposed on a flight of stairs. A prop provides alternative or additional support by engaging the stair surface. The invention reduces the possibility of the cleaner rolling off the stair tread and falling down the stairs.

Abstract: A suction tube assembly for a wet/dry cleaner comprising a suction tube (60), a shampoo delivery conduit (44,45) extending along the suction tube, a valve forming a part of the conduit and operating means (50) for the user to operate the valve whilst manipulating the suction tube, the valve comprising a valve body (18) having a tubular portion within which is located a generally tubular portion of a valve piston (38), said tubular valve piston portion having a bore in its wall to provide communication between the interior and exterior of the tubular piston portion, means (37) biasing the piston towards a position in which sealing means (32,34) between the piston and the body prevent flow of fluid beyond said piston, said piston being movable axially by the operating means against said biasing means to release said sealing means and thereby allow fluid flow.
