  • Patent number: 4825824
Abstract: Method of oil and gas tightly fastening a diaphragm made of an elastomer material with respect to the tappet as well as the adjusting element within a hydrostatic valve clearance adjusting device and configuration of the same. Clamping rings are form-lockingly connected with the fastening end of the diaphragm already during the vulcanization process. The thus manufactured installable unit is fixed in the tappet in the correct position orientation by means of an installation tool. Moreover, the structural configuration of the clamping rings is described as well as that of the elastic diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 4799694
Abstract: A piston ring assembly has an expander spring of sheet material bent into an annular configuration. The expander spring has a circumferential series of radially oriented tongues and each tongue has an approximately axially bent leg. The tongues and legs are defined by stamped-out slots provided in the expander spring in an alternatingly radially inwardly and radially outwardly oriented circumferential series. The expander spring has stamping burrs bounding the slots. The piston ring assembly further has two laminar oil scraper rings arranged generally concentrically with respect to the expander spring. The laminar oil scraper rings are axially supported by the tongues and are radially supported by the legs. The burrs are situated such that they are submitted solely to compression forces derived from bending stresses generated as a result of bending the spring into the annular configuration.

  • Patent number: 4741965
Abstract: A soft substance gasket material preferably made of a metal reinforced fiber mat is impregnated with a silicone impregnating agent comprising a mixture of a polysiloxane having reactive hydrogen groups such as a polyhydrogen siloxane, an addition cross-linking polysiloxane such as a methyl vinyl siloxane, and cross-linking catalysts, preferably in the form of only one organic metal compound. In spite of having small quantities of addition cross-linking polysiloxane and cross-linking catalysts, the impregnated seals are not tacky after cross-linking, they are easy and inexpensive to manufacture, and they evidence improved functional characteristics such as improved resistance to hot media, temperature and aging when compared with seals impregnated with only one type of polysiloxane.

  • Patent number: 4679472
Abstract: Machining the circumferences of workpieces, particularly piston rings, in a variety of out-of-round contours and diameters requires only a single copying disc having a basic out-of-round contour. The copying disc is driven in synchronism with the angle of rotation alpha of piston rings to be machined by a direct current servomotor and, in order to generate the desired out-of-round contour, is caused to deviate from its synchronous movement by pulses received from a computer for the leading and lagging difference angles of rotation delta phi. An adjustable coupling member is provided between a copying disc sensor (such as a double lever) and the tool holder for transferring the out-of-round contour from the copying disc to the workpiece.
