  • Patent number: 5882284
Abstract: An abdominal exercise apparatus comprising a platform having two upwardly extending sidewalls. Positioned between the sidewalls and over the platform is an adjustable belt including an abdominal pad. The belt is connected to the platform by elastic cords which extend from either side of the belt through the sidewalls and attach underneath the platform on a series of hooks. In use, the belt is tightened across the abdomen of a user so that as the user rotates forward in a "sit-up" or "crunch" type exercise, the abdominal pad and elastic cords provide direct resistance to the abdomen for an isometric and kinetic abdominal exercise.

  • Patent number: 4979987
Abstract: Precious metal values, particularly gold and silver, are liberated from refractory, carbonate ores by adjusting the molar ratio of sulfide to total acid consumers to between about 1.2 and about 3.2 in the ore feed to a pressure oxidation process. The ore is contacted with oxygen to oxidize sulfide in the ore with at least about 65 percent of the sulfide oxidation occurring in a first oxidation zone at a temperature above about 360.degree. F. The oxidation of sulfide forms at least about 5 grams of free sulfuric acid in the first oxidation zone. The oxidation process is continued in subsequent oxidation zones. A gas stream is removed from the oxidation zones and oxygen is separated from carbon dioxide and other inerts in the gas stream and the purified oxygen is recycled to the oxidation zones.

  • Patent number: 4788726
Abstract: A pad for protecting an infant is provided with a panel having opposite sides that are spaced to provide a flat support surface large enough for receiving the infant, such as a sleeping or supine infant, to enable changing of the clothes worn by the infant, for example. The panel has a continuous edge that is defined by the terminus of the sides and that extends away from the support surface. An endless roll having a relatively uniform cross-sectional shape extends around the edge to completely enclose the flat support surface. The roll includes an elongated blanket that is multiple-folded into a serpentine cross-sectional configuration. A cover surrounds and holds the elongated pad in such serpentine cross-sectional configuration. The cover has overlapping elongated ends.

  • Patent number: 4626433
Abstract: A hemorrhoidal remedy which comprises a salve consisting primarily of aluminum potassium sulfate, linseed oil, methanol, camphor and pure petroleum jelly. There is further provided a process for combining the aluminum potassium sulfate and mixing thoroughly with one ounce of linseed oil. Upon the aluminum sulfate and the linseed oil being thoroughly mixed, there is then added approximately one-half ounce of menthol, one quarter ounce of camphor to the mixture of the aluminum potassium sulfate and linseed oil. Following the thorough mixing of these ingredients, the pure petroleum jelly is added in and thoroughly mixed, utilizing approximately four ounces of the jelly.

  • Patent number: 4434513
Abstract: A roll extends around the upper end and along each side of an infant's back. The panel continues beyond the roll as a flap on which the infant sits. The roll is formed by an outer layer enclosing a resilient but compressible material and preferably has a larger diameter from the top of the panel, which may have a curved, convex contour followed by the roll, along each side of the panel to a position corresponding to the shoulders of the infant, and then decreases or tapers to the end of each side of the roll. Both the outer layer of the roll and a front layer of the panel may be quilted fabric layers with a rear layer of the panel being fabric.

  • Patent number: 4355740
Abstract: A container holder for air freshener, deodorizer or other conventional household aerosol cans. The container holder is wall mountable and comprises a holder body into which the container is placed and a cover portion which is slideably mounted onto the holder body. As the cover is pushed in the downward direction a tongue located on the inside surface of the cover top causes the container valve to actuate releasing a spray of the container contents into the environment. Upon release of the cover, the cover springs upward to its rest position causing the container valve to shut.
