Abstract: A system and method for converting animal, vegetable, and food byproduct materials into useful bio-gas and fertilizer, and/or soil amendment products has an anaerobic digester, a liquid-solids separating unit, an ammonia stripper, an ammonia absorption unit, a solids processing unit, and an equilization tank. The system and method use anaerobic digestion to break down the fats, oils, and greases, proteinaceous, and carbonaceous substances contained in the byproducts. Anaerobic digestion creates bio-gas, mainly methane and carbon dioxide, waste biosolids, which can contain phosphorous, nitrogen and other trace minerals, and a liquid effluent with significant ammonia levels. Ammonia, a useful ingredient for fertilizer formulation, is recovered from the effluent. The solids and the extracted ammonia and/or phosphorous can also be used to make fertilizer and/or soil amendment materials.

Abstract: An Arachis hypogaea L. peanut seed, peanut plant, peanut line, peanut seed product and peanut oil having an oleic acid content of from about 80% to about 85% and a linoleic acid content of from about 1.5% to about 2.5%, each based upon the total fatty acid content of said seed and a ratio of the amount of oleic acid to linoleic acid in said seed from about 20:1 to about 58:1. The peanut seed, seed product, plant and line is of the genetic runner-type variety and has a low pod-splitting trait. `M2-225` seeds were deposited under the Budapest Treaty on Oct. 11, 1996, at the American Type Culture Collection, 12301 Parklawn Drive, Rockville, Md. 20852 USA, Accession number 97762.

The apparatus comprises a table, a frame pivotally mounted to the table, a main air cylinder, a rack and pinion connection between the main air cylinder and the frame, and clamping arrangements located on the frame together with first and second air cylinders for driving the clamping arrangements.

Tubular wire mesh conduits extend inwardly from opposite side walls and terminate inside the container. Pivoted legs support the container above the ground, oriented in a direction to direct natural currents of ambient air into the conduits and through the contained crops. Selectively usable shades and shutters permit shading from direct sunlight and exclusion of air flow or inclement weather.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the direct solvent extraction of oil from oil seeds to produce a low-fat proteinaceous material which comprises, wet heat conditioning oil bearing seeds to a moisture content of from 6 to 12%, flaking said wet heat conditioned oil seeds, dry heat conditioning said flaked oil seeds to a moisture content of from 1.9 to 6%, and treating said dry heat conditioned flakes with a solvent for the removal of the oil contained in said flakes.
