Abstract: A method for recognizing different types of batteries in a product capable of using two or more types of batteries so as to employ the battery life efficiently. The method includes detecting the battery voltage upon connection to a load and detecting variations of the battery voltage with load variations. The discharge voltages of an alkaline battery and a nickel-cadmimum are distinguished so as to avoid premature replacement of an alkaline battery.
Abstract: A wireless telephone has a mobile unit having a first computer and a base unit having a second computer and a recording device. Push button requests for starting and stopping recording by the base unit, and end of speech indications for stopping recording are processed by the first computer and transmitted as data signals to the second computer for implementation in the base unit. The second computer acknowledges recording starts to the first computer.
Abstract: The deviation of head and track at a most outside position conference track (PtO) and at a most inside position conference tract (Pti), the deviation value is processed in accordance with the linear interpolation, and the deviation of the head from a certain data track can be forecasted. If these position reference tracks (Pt) are used and the deviation of head from the certain track is processed according to the interpolation of curve of second order, the deviation of the head from the track is forecasted more precisely, and the deviation can be compensated for to trace the track center correctly.
Abstract: A system for programming software feature switches in a mobile telephone, wherein a host computer initiates a first call to the mobile telephone, thereby causing a cell site facility to broadcast an initiate signal via a digital paging channel. A processor in the mobile telephone monitors the paging channel. An alert signal is generated in the mobile telephone in response to the initiate signal, and an answer signal is generated in the mobile telephone if the subscriber answers the first call. The first processor causes first acknowledge signal to be broadcast via the paging channel in response to the answer signal, to thereby cause the cell site facility to complete a voice channel connection between the mobile telephone and a modem of the host computer. A tone generator associated with the host computer generates a distinct tone on the voice channel, which is detected by the mobile telephone.
