Abstract: Hair accessories include (a) a substrate having a hair-holding surface configured for holding hair, and a structural surface; and (b) a layer provided on at least a portion of the hair-holding surface, wherein the layer contains a plurality of flocked fibers. Methods of manufacturing hair accessories are described.

Abstract: A hair styling implement has a body with a plurality of apertures formed through a body outer surface. A rod extends along and within an interior of the body. A plurality of bristles is attached to and extends from the rod, each extending through a corresponding aperture. A button on the implement that is coupled to the rod and movable to a depressed position and an outward position when not depressed. When the button is in the outward position, the plurality of bristles extends through the corresponding apertures to an extended user position. When the button is depressed, the plurality of bristles is retracted into the body to a retracted cleaning position extending through the corresponding apertures to a lesser extent relative to the extended use position.

Abstract: The present disclosure is generally directed to headwear and, more particularly, to headwear, including hats, visors, head wraps, head ties, bandanas and the like, that include interwoven gripping fibers, such as rubber threads or other materials having increased gripping or frictional forces beyond that of the materials from which the headwear are typically fabricated, integrated into the headwear and positioned to engage the skin and/or hair of the wearer to improve the retention of the headwear when worn during physical activities.

Abstract: A hair retaining clip including a first clip member, a second clip member, a hinge, an elastic member is disclosed. The first and second clip members each include a handle portion and a claw portion. The hinge is disposed between and pivotally connects the first and second clip members. An elastic member is disposed between and connects to the first and second clip members thereby biasing the claw portions of the respective first and second clip members together.

Abstract: A hair brush may include a body having a receiving portion at a first end. A cushion pad having an inner surface and an outer surface may be disposed in the receiving portion, and may include a plurality of bristle anchors having an aperture. A plurality of bristles may be tufted into each of the apertures.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a hair accessory, such as a scarf, headband, head wrap, ponytail wrap and the like, having a strip of fabric having opposite ends and oppositely disposed longitudinal edges, and a friction member having a coefficient of friction greater than a coefficient of friction of the strip of fabric. The friction member may be stitched into the strip of fabric in a decorative pattern and with at least a portion of the friction member being exposed through one of the surfaces of the strip of fabric and engaging the hair of a person wearing the hair accessory when the hair accessory is worn. Alternatively, the friction member may be adhered to a surface of the strip of fabric in a decorative pattern and engaging the hair of a person wearing the hair accessory when the hair accessory is worn.

Abstract: A flat iron comb in accordance with the present disclosure combines a comb with tongs to allow the user to section a portion of hair and clamp down with the comb portion to provide tension when the flat iron is pulled behind the flat iron comb. The flat iron comb also lines tip the hair prior to being heated by the flat iron thus allowing a straighter result on the hair. The flat iron comb possesses a slot in a lower armature to allow for the comb of an upper armature to be inserted therein when the tongs are clamped down. The lower armature also possesses a tapered sectioning point on the tip of the armature to allow the user to get closer to the scalp to gather the hair section to be straightened. The armature can also possess a ceramic attribute in the lower armature to assist in setting and drying the hair.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a scented dust mask configured to provide a pleasant scent while being worn on the face of a user. The dust mask includes outer and inner layers of material shaped to cover the nose and mouth of the user, and connected to each other about the outer edges such that the layers of material define a pocket therebetween. The layers of material are configured to filter particulate matter from the air as the air passes through the material. The dust mask further includes a quantity of a scented material disposed and retained within the pocket defined by the inner and outer layers of material, with the scent of the scented material being detectable by the user when the dust mask is worn. The dust mask may further include a connection mechanism configured to retain the dust mask against the face of the user when the dust mask is worn.

Abstract: A finishing comb designed to meet the grooming needs of men is disclosed. The finishing comb has an elongated body having three parallel rows of bristles extending from end to end from the bottom surface of the body. The rows of bristles are a combination of natural bristles and synthetic bristles arranged so that the synthetic bristles penetrate the hair pack and the natural bristles distribute the natural sebum of the hair along the lengths of the hair shafts. In one embodiment, the center row of bristles comprises synthetic bristles and the outer rows of bristles comprise tufts of natural bristles. In an alternative embodiment, the inner row of bristles comprises tufts of natural bristles and the outer rows of bristles comprise synthetic bristles.

Abstract: A hair brush includes a body, a cushion pad, and a plurality of bristles. The body includes at least a partial cavity at a first end, and the cavity includes a front portion, a rear portion, and a plurality of apertures. A cushion pad having a first surface is disposed near the front portion of the cavity when the hair brush is in a user position, and is disposed near a second surface located near the rear portion of the cavity when the hair brush is in a cleaning position. The plurality of bristles are disposed on the cushion pad, and have a first end that bristles extend substantially perpendicular from the first surface of the cushion pad through the apertures in the front portion of the body.

The base includes a first end, a second end and a first elongate section that is resiliently movable relative to the base. The locking mechanism is disposed on the second ends of the base and the locking arm for locking the clip in a closed position. At least one of the first and second elongate sections are entirely constructed from a high friction material.

The upper and lower clip members may be pivotally connected such that the first and second clip members are rotatable between a normal closed position and an open position, and the upper and lower clip members may be biased toward the normal closed position. The upper and low clip members may be fabricated from a material having a thermal conductivity in the range of 0.20-0.35 W/m K so that the material does not retain excessive heat and the temperature of the clip does not rise to an uncomfortable level when the clip is subjected to heat from a hair dryer. The material may also have a static coefficient of friction between opposing surface of the material in the range of 0.15-0.25, and a Rockwell R-scale hardness in the range of 76-118.

Abstract: A system for choosing hair accessories includes a first set of hair accessories and a second set of hair accessories. Each of the first set of hair accessories are of a different type and have a first color that is matched to a first hair color. The pony tail holder may include a fabric ring having an annular area at least a portion of which comprises a tubular annulus around a central hole in which a pony tail is to be gripped by the pony tail holder, and an elastic core disposed within the tubular annulus of the fabric ring and extending around the central hole. The pony tail holder may further include a friction member woven into the fabric ring proximate an inner edge of the fabric ring such that at least a portion of the friction member is exposed through the outer surface of the fabric ring and engages the pony tail when the pony tail holder is disposed thereon, with the coefficient of friction of the friction member being greater than the coefficient of friction of the outer surface of the fabric ring.

Abstract: A grip for a graspable item having a body and a handle connected to and extending outwardly away from the body. The grip includes a hollow core configured to slide onto the handle, and a hollow sleeve having a plurality of outwardly extending ribs disposed on the external surface of the sleeve. The sleeve is configured to slide onto the exterior of the core such that the core and the sleeve define a cavity therebetween. The grip further includes a quantity of a gel disposed within the cavity. The ends of the sleeve are sealed against the corresponding ends of the core to retain the gel within the cavity, and the gel allows the sleeve to deform to conform to the shape of a user's hand when the handle of the graspable item is grasped by the user.
