  • Patent number: 9686842
Abstract: A system and method for discovering at least one dimming control protocol installed in a plurality of lighting devices and for controlling a plurality of dimming levels of the plurality of lighting devices are disclosed. The system may include at least one gateway that connects to at least one plurality of luminaires and/or LED's, at least one sensor subsystem and at least one power meter. The system and method may exchange information between a plurality of light devices and a self-organized, self-discovering gateway device. The gateway may use one or more known control protocols as an input and is able to handle multiple light devices that support different control protocols. This ability makes the gateway a universal lighting control gateway.

  • Patent number: 9655197
Abstract: A system and method for controlling lighting systems and predicting a life expectancy of a plurality of lighting devices are disclosed. The system may include at least one gateway that controls dimming levels of the lighting devices, and at least one of a plurality of luminaires and LEDs that communicates with the gateway via a dimming control interface. The system may further include a sensor subsystem that senses color channels and monitors at least one change in environment in real time, and at least one power meter that measures power in real time, each of which is connected to the gateway. At least one server may be connected to the gateway, and may calculate and predict lumen depreciation of the luminaires and LEDs, and reporting and changing display information associated with the luminaires and LEDs.

  • Publication number: 20170105272
Abstract: An electronic 2-way communication module suitable (1, 2, 3) for 2-way communication with a luminaire (6) is disclosed. This is adapted to be installed in series into the power supply (7, 8) to the luminaire, and it has (i) a housing assembly; (ii) live and neutral power input terminals; (iii) live and neutral power output terminals; (iv) a power supply unit; (v) a dimmer unit controller; (vi) a wireless communication interface adapted to receive data/operating instructions and to relay data to a remote repository; and (vii) a wired connection between said electronic 2-way communication module and said luminaire adapted for the 2-way transmission of data between the module (1,2, 3) and the luminaire (6) and vice versa. This electronic 2-way communication module provides for the first time the ability not only to control a luminaire remotely but also to transmit data wirelessly from a luminaire to a remote repository, using a module that is simply wired in series with a cable supplying power to said luminaire.

  • Publication number: 20170045214
Abstract: An LED downlight lighting module is provided including an LED module having one or more single LEDs on a first printed circuit board, a heat sink, and a second printed circuit board. In an embodiment, the first printed circuit board is in good thermal contact with the heat sink such that heat from the LEDs is dissipated through the heat sink. In an embodiment, the second printed circuit board is adapted to accommodate a power and control circuitry for the LEDs, and is thermally insulated from the heat sink and from the first printed circuit board, and thus from the LED module. According to an aspect, the LEDs serve as the principal heat generating component on the printed circuit board, thus helping to increase the light output from the LEDs and/or increase the lifespan of the LED downlight lighting module.

  • Publication number: 20150338077
Abstract: A luminaire component for use in a luminaire, said component comprising: (i) an LED module on a first printed circuit board (PCB), the first PCB having a front face on which the LED module is located; (ii) a second PCB mounted forward of the front face of the first PCB; (iii) connection means adapted to connect the second PCB to the first PCB. The invention also extends to a luminaire bezel containing one or more sensors, where the bezel is removably attachable to the luminaire. The sensor(s) can measure one or more environmental characteristics and electrical and signal contacts between the bezel and the luminaire are provided. Preferably the electrical and signal contact means is cableless.
