  • Patent number: 5182933
Abstract: This method relates to the production of connectors each embodied by a row of substantially U-shaped clips formed in their curved part with a row of regularly spaced-apart apertures which separate the hinge elements from one another. The following metal deep drawing and pressing operations are performed consecutively in the central part of a metal strip, forming an aperture of reduced cross-section in the center of the place intended for each aperture required to be present between two hinge elements; widening each such aperture and pressing in the edges to form a collar which projects from a surface of the strip; bending the sides of each collar around on to the corresponding surface of the metal strip; and bending the strip round into a U-shape by the surface towards which the collar edges have been bent round being inwardly directed.

  • Patent number: 5097944
Abstract: A seal fitted between two sections of a conveyor belt is constituted by a member of resilient material having a generally U-shaped cross-section which can be placed astride the end portion of a belt section to be assembled, beneath the belt-fasteners of the corresponding row of a coupling device. The web of the seal has a series of transverse cut-out portions so arranged as to receive the end portion of the hinge-knuckle of one of the belt-fasteners of the oppositely-facing row and to delimit a corresponding number of narrow strips which are intended to be applied against the coupling-pin. Each strip has the shape of a loop forming a projection opposite to the side which is to be applied on the coupling-pin. Thus the loop can be compressed or stretched-out to a greater or lesser extent according to the thickness of the conveyor belt.

  • Patent number: 5095590
Abstract: Each belt connector or each clip is substantially so U-shaped as to be engaged with both sides of the corresponding edge of a conveyor belt (T) in order there to be secured by means of a U-shaped fixing staple or cramp of metal wire, whose arms are pressed through apertures in the bowed parts of each clip and through the strip between them. In the bowed part of each clip, to receive the staple ends, each aperture disposed opposite a tine of such a staple is connected, by way of a groove or channel or the like contrived in the outside surface of this same zone, to another aperture through which the corresponding tine can be led. The same can therefore be returned to inside the clip in order there to be pressed again into the conveyor belt or to engage between the same and the corresponding bowed part of the clip, something which occurs automatically when the staple ends are bent around and pressed against an anvil on which the clips are supported while the staples are driven in and secured in situ.

  • Patent number: 4858280
Abstract: A hinge-pin for coupling two rows of belt-fasteners mounted to the ends of a belt-conveyor or the like is constituted by a series of metallic elements fitted in succession around a flexible axial core. Each element has the approximate shape of a semi-cylindrical rod and carries two projecting lugs at each end. These elements are placed on each side of the flexible core in two inverted rows and in staggered relation from one row to the next. The projecting lugs of both ends of each element are engaged in corresponding cavities of the opposite elements of the other row. The different elements disposed in succession are thus interengaged in the axial direction with a possibility of limited displacement of the elements in the other directions, thus endowing the hinge-pin with the requisite flexibility.
