Abstract: A multimeter has a housing with at least three input connections, configured as female connectors, for connecting to two measurement lines. When a measurement variable is changed, it is possible to connect at least one of the measurement lines to another input connection. The multimeter has a measurement-range switch which can be moved to a switching position associated with the selected measurement variables, and a mechanical blocking apparatus coupled to the switch. The blocking apparatus allows specific input connections to be blocked such that contact can be made only with the input connections which have an associated measurement variable which corresponds to the measurement variable set by the switch. The blocking apparatus is formed as a pivotable angle lever, and the switch moves end regions of strip-shaped angle limbs of the angle lever to a position aligned with the input connections to be blocked.

Abstract: An assembly for transferring data comprises a measurement data acquisition unit in the form of a portable measuring device, a measurement data processing unit, and an auxiliary unit for transferring data between the acquisition unit and the processing unit. Contact-less coupling elements are operatively associated with the acquisition and auxiliary units respectively for transferring measurement data between the acquisition unit and the auxiliary unit by contact-less coupling. Data are transferred between the auxiliary unit and the processing unit. The auxiliary unit includes a connecting member for mechanically detachably connecting the auxiliary unit with the acquisition unit such that the contact-less coupling elements face one another at a predetermined spacing and such that the connected acquisition and auxiliary units together form a portable measuring device.

Abstract: A multimeter with automatic measurement function setting and automatic recognition of measurement range includes circuitry having a high input resistance for carrying out the recognition of the type of electrical parameter to be measured. When the parameter being measured is recognized as an impedance, however, a low input resistance is automatically switched on, whereupon the magnitude of the impedance is measured at low input resistance and then is displayed, and if the range of measurement changes, the measurement procedure is repeated from the beginning.
