Abstract: A flow imaging and monitoring system for synchronized management of wide area drainage that includes an interposer for supporting monitoring and management equipment in a manhole, a module for illuminating water flowing in pipes at the base of the manhole, a module for monitoring responses to reflected light, a sealed and rechargeable battery pack, and a data analysis and management system to interpret data streams in real time. The interposer can be adjusted to fit the diameter of the manhole and can be adjusted to be placed under the manhole cover. The module for illuminating the flowing water can be adjusted to generate various frequencies. The support structures for the modules can be adjusted for varying pitch, roll and yaw with respect to the manhole. The data analysis and management system is supported by cloud computing.

  • Publication number: 20190302088
Abstract: The invention relates to a sample device that allows for simultaneous analysis of multiple liquid samples (e.g., drinking water samples). More specifically, the sample device is adapted for use with a mobile water analyzer, the sample device including an upwardly open receptacle divided into a plurality of separate upwardly open compartments separated by dividing walls. Each of the compartments is configured to contain a separate water sample, and the sample device is adapted to receive the inlet opening of a removable test element of a mobile water analyzer.

  • Publication number: 20180171280
Abstract: An vitro air-liquid interface (ALI) exposure of cultured cells makes it possible to examine the toxicological properties of the tested air. A method for evaluating effect of a polluting air stream comprises the steps of exposing cells to a membrane until adhesion of the cells has occurred, feeding cells periodically until there is a confluent monolayer of cells on said membranes, aspirating off non-adherent cells, applying fresh media, exposing the cells to over-head stream containing pollutants, removing the cells from the membranes that have been exposed to the over-head stream, then measuring the cells' response to toxins in the over-head stream.

  • Publication number: 20150329393
Abstract: A process for treatment of municipal wastewater plant sludge to the criteria of Class A biosolids. The process uses hydrogen peroxide and thermo-oxidation to reduce volatile suspended solids to meet the criteria. On a batch basis, waste activated sludge is introduced into a reactor; the concentration of the waste activated sludge is adjusted to about 1.5% total suspended solids with secondary effluent, if necessary; the reactor is mixed; the reactor is pre-heated to an operating temperature in a range of about 65° C. to about 90° C.; subsequently, a 50% solution of laboratory grade hydrogen peroxide is introduced into the bottom of the reactor; and the contents are heated for at least 4 hours.

  • Publication number: 20060051216
Abstract: A variable displacement hydraulic/pump motor has a yoke with a pair of shafts aligned to define a yoke pivot axis and connected to a valve plate therebetween having intake and discharge apertures. A rotatable cylinder barrel has piston cylinders open at one end to receive a piston head and opening through fluid ports at another end, flush against the valve plate surface. A drive block is mounted on an input/output shaft for rotation about a central axis of rotation inclined at an angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the cylinder barrel which may be changed by a drive engaging the yoke at a point near its pivot axis. Loads on bushings supporting the yoke shafts are reduced by providing radially extending fluid ports in the shafts and in communication with the intake and discharge apertures of the valve plate.
