Abstract: A thin-film electrophoresis assembly includes a support frame having a top portion and a substantially flat face, a first thin-film member carried by the support frame, a second thin-film member carried by the support frame, and a resolving gel sandwiched between the first thin-film member and the second thin-film member. A reservoir is mounted to the top portion of the support frame and includes an open top and an open bottom. A stacking gel is carried by the reservoir and includes a bottom surface in fluid-tight communication with a top surface of the resolving gel through the open bottom of the reservoir.
