  • Patent number: 5526986
Abstract: A voltage isolation device for controlling the flow of conductive liquid between a liquid supply source and a liquid destination source. The isolation device has an inlet connected to the supply source and has a yoke slide valve positionable along a pair of rods; one of the rods engages a slideable tube at the inlet to provide a liquid seal and the yoke slide valve may be positionable to slide the tube away from the rod to thereby provide a flow path for liquid through the tube and out the slide valve. A pair of seal assemblies each having axially spaced apart seals have formed sealing areas containing a non-conductive seal liquid which is capable of dissolving the conductive liquids being utilized. A scheme is provided to route arcs which result when the charged fluid is connected to the grounded fluid so as to locate the arc away from parts which could be damaged by it.

  • Patent number: 5441297
Abstract: The power unit cart of the present invention provides for the quick, efficient, and easy replacement of either an engine or an electrical motor power unit as the power source for a cart-mounted spray painting pumping system. The power unit cart includes a main frame which has a partial tubular socket and an axial alignment member having a vertical support tab. The axial alignment member and the partial tubular socket pivotally and slidably engage a universal mounting base which includes a tubular member and an L-shaped bracket. The power unit is attached to the upper face of the universal mounting base. The axial alignment member and the partial tubular socket, in conjunction with an anchoring device, releasably and adjustably couple the universal mounting base and power unit to the power unit cart. The anchoring device is then attached to the L-shaped bracket for adjustment of the tension of a belt drive.

  • Patent number: 5433587
Abstract: A paint circulation system for supplying paint to a plurality of distributors utilizing a circulating pump to circulate paint to the distributors and an injection pump operated by a closely controlled electric motor for injecting paint into the circulation network from a paint supply reservoir to maintain a predetermined pressure within the circulation network. A "leakage" passage having a predetermined restriction permits paint to leave the circulation network when the valved paint distributors are closed, and the use of an automatic timing valve within the leakage bypass permits flow rates within the circulation network to be varied. The components permit paint viscosity and volumes to be determined, settling of the paint particles within the circulation network and degradation of the circulating paint is minimized, and circulating motor wear may be determined.

  • Patent number: 5407332
Abstract: In a priming piston loading double acting pump for high viscosity materials, the shovel plate assembly is formed of a flexible, abrasion resistant disk or cup. The disk may be made from silicon rubber and the cup may be made from a glass filled Teflon polytetrafluoroethylene material. The clearance between the plate assembly and the intake cylinder is essentially zero to allow for a build-up of a vacuum as the plate assembly moves downwardly and out of the intake cylinder to greatly enhance the loading ability of the pump.

  • Patent number: 5407106
Abstract: The dispense valve is designed for application of high viscosity fluids and is designed so that it is equally effective and usable in manual or automatic versions. The valve is air operated and the air section and fluid sections may be swiveled relative to one another to allow the inlet lines to be aligned in the desired manner relative to one another. The seat against which the needle seals is designed to be reversible to effectively double the life of the single part. Also, the trigger valve attaches directly to the valve itself so as to allow ease of attachment and detachment. The complete assembly provides a compact, easily maneuverable and effective device.

  • Patent number: 5372389
Abstract: The nozzle swivel joint includes two couplings which are joined together at mutually flat interface surfaces. Each coupling has an axial flow passage, and the two couplings are held together in mutually rotatable position by a manifold with a threaded end; the manifold having inlet and outlet ports respectively aligned to the flow passages in the couplings. The manifold is sealably affixed to one of the couplings, with a gasket forming a seal about the threadable manifold. An O-ring is compressed between the respective flat interface surfaces to provide a limited friction seal for restricting relative rotation between the couplings, while at the same time permitting rotation to occur with a limited amount of force.

  • Patent number: 5368059
Abstract: This invention is useful in a plural component system which utilizes sequential metering of multiple fluids. In such a system for dispensing component fluids such as paint, the controller dispenses a given amount of a first fluid, and then part way through dispensing of the second fluid, calculates the amount of the second fluid required in view of the actual amount of the first fluid dispensed and then dispenses that amount. The desired tolerance maybe subtracted from the amount of second fluid dispensed so that the overrun which always takes place from the valves on the second fluid will place the mixture in the middle of the range for the dispensed fluid. During subsequent cycles, the ratio is checked in view of the actual amounts dispensed and an alarm set off if the actual ratio falls outside of tolerance.

  • Patent number: 5368232
Abstract: A stripe painting apparatus is attachable to square opening hitch receivers mounted on the rear of a pickup truck or other vehicle. The apparatus includes a transverse tubular sleeve in which a boom may be slidably locked to extend outwardly to the left or right. A forwardly extending carriage with a wheeled front end pivots on the boom and carries paint spray heads and applicators for distributing reflective beads onto the wet paint. The carriage pivots between a lower operating position and a locked upright position for highway transport. A pair of crankable jacks with elongate feet mounted on the jack legs are cranked down for ground support during mounting and removal of the apparatus from the vehicle, and for storage of the apparatus.
