Patent number: 11935073Abstract: A method for flagging journal entries within a general ledger is described. A plurality of assessment routines are executed on transaction lines of the journal entries within the general ledger, each assessment routine of the plurality of assessment routines i) being configured to generate a base score for each transaction line, and ii) associated with a corresponding flagging threshold. A composite score is generated for each transaction line using the base scores generated by the plurality of assessment routines. For each journal entry within the general ledger: the journal entry is flagged when one or more base scores for the journal entry exceed the corresponding flagging thresholds of the assessment routines, or when none of the base scores for the journal entry exceed the corresponding flagging thresholds and the composite score exceeds a composite threshold. A report of flagged journal entries is generated.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2021Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: GRANT THORNTON LLPInventors: Richard Lanza, Brian Wolohan, Matthew Van Buren

Patent number: 11475389Abstract: A method and system for generating an audit report is described. Structured data that represents a prior performance of a business process is received at a processor from a staging database configured to receive raw data from a plurality of distinct data sources. Test control functions are selected by the processor from a plurality of predetermined test control functions. The plurality of predetermined test control functions are configured to read structured data from the staging database and to process the structured data to determine whether business processes have been properly performed. The selected one or more test control functions are executed by the processor to determine whether the business process has been properly performed using the received structured data. The audit report is generated by the processor to include the determination by the selected one or more test control functions of whether the business process has been properly performed.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2021Date of Patent: October 18, 2022Assignee: Grant Thornton LLPInventors: Gregory Haberer, Wes Luckock, Ethan Rojhani

Publication number: 20120023040Abstract: A process and integrated system for estimating a customized, ex-ante equity risk premium in real time or as of a user-specified historical date. A related database retrieves and processes selected market data and applies the method to determine the ex-ante ERP estimate. Modified versions of the method and system provide size risk premium estimates, industry risk premium estimates, and country risk premium estimates. Another embodiment recursively processes risk premium estimates to further improve accuracy.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 22, 2011Publication date: January 26, 2012Applicant: Grant Thornton LLPInventors: Bryan Benoit, Taylor West

Publication number: 20080140514Abstract: A method and system for assessing the risk that an entity (50) will not meet performance expectations wherein dependencies (52, 54) of the entity are identified and external factors (56, 60, 62, 64) that reflect changes in such dependencies are determined. Indicators (58, 68, 70, 72) that affect the external factors are also established and condition levels (59, 69, 71 and 73) are assigned to the external factors based on rules to which such indicators are applied. The performance risk of the entity is evaluated from the condition levels of the external factors.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2007Publication date: June 12, 2008Applicant: Grant Thornton LLPInventor: Peter Stenger
