Abstract: A filter wrap for a cylindrical filter has a sheet with an interior side facing the filter when the sheet is wrapped on the filter, and an exterior side. It also has an edge defining a main opening to the interior for receiving the filter. At least one strap is provided for the wrap with one end attached to the sheet. The strap has another accessible distal end. Pulling on the strap(s) everts the sheet as it is pulled off of the filter. This results in trapping debris residing on the exterior of the sheet within the sheet once it is everted during removal of the wrap from the filter. Installation and removal can be performed while the protected equipment remains in operation.

Abstract: A coupling device for connecting a filter element to a filter conduit has male and female couplings each having a passageway for fluid. The male coupling is secured to the filter conduit and has at least two radially projecting lugs. The female coupling is secured to the filter element and has at least two latching tabs for engaging the lugs. A spring is operatively mounted on the male coupling and interferes with the radially projecting lugs. The spring is disposed so as to engage at least one latching tab when the male and female couplings are moved toward each other. The spring urges the latching tabs to rotate in a first angular direction thereby causing the tab to latch to a lug of the male coupling.
Abstract: A filter cartridge for use in severe or harsh applications, such as acidic or alkaline environments or hot or cold temperatures. The inventive filter cartridge is constructed of a central, perforated core having reinforcing bands on the ends which is surrounded by a continuous tube of filtration material and bounded by end caps. Rather than using potting compounds or other techniques which are susceptible to severe environments, the end caps are secured to the filter material enrobed core by way of mechanical fasteners, such as blind pop-rivets, screws, or nails.
Abstract: A coupling device for connecting a filter element to a fluid conduit has a male coupling secured to either the fluid conduit or the filter element. The male coupling also has at least two radially projecting tabs. A polymeric female coupling engages with the male coupling for securing the filter element on the fluid conduit. The female coupling also has lands for receiving the tabs. The male and female couplings each have a passageway for fluid and that generally defines an axial direction. Each tab is configured for distributing an axial force generally throughout the tab and laterally relative the axial direction so that either the land being forced against the tab or the tab being forced against the land does not damage the female coupling and as long as the filter element remains secured to the fluid conduit.
Abstract: Powdered nickel-based alloys having substantial amounts of chromium and molybdenum are molded and sintered to form tubular filter supports. Metal oxide particulates, preferably titanium oxide, are impregnated into the interior surfaces of the tubular elements and sintered to create 0.1 micron filter membranes. Hastelloy C-22 is a preferred nickel-based alloy for forming the porous metal support, while rutile is preferred as a starting material for forming the filter membrane. The resultant porous metal/metal oxide filter elements have superior resistance to chemical attack in high chloride, low pH environments.
Abstract: Non-chloride containing regenerant compositions of potassium acetate or potassium formate, at least one surfactant and at least one chelating agent as well as methods for efficient regeneration of water softeners utilizing the regenerant compositions are disclosed. A preferred regenerant composition is a solution of potassium acetate or potassium formate with citric acid and octyl phenol ethoxylate.
