    Abstract: A level having a body portion and one or more openings in the body portion. A vial is mounted in the opening in the body portion. The body portion has vial-recieving seats adjoining the openings which have end walls. The vial-receiving seats have locating elements spaced from the end walls. The locating elements may be in the form of a protrusion or a ridge. In addition, the body of the level has a groove to receive a magnet. The groove is deep enough so that the surface of the level is flush with the surface of the magnet.
