Abstract: A packaging structure and methods of manufacturing a packaging structure. The packaging structure, for example, an edge protector, a corner board, etc., may generally include a first ply having a first width, a second ply having a second width, and a third ply having a third width wider than the first width and the second width. The second ply may be wrapped around at least one end of the first ply, and the third ply may be wrapped around the first ply and the second ply. The third ply may overlap at a portion (e.g., an intermediate portion, an apex, etc.) of the packaging structure.

Abstract: An edge protector including a main body for installation on a box or package for protection and reinforcement. The edge protector includes first and second legs and a cover layer that extends over the outer surface of both of the first and second legs. An attachment portion of the cover layer extends over the outer edge of each leg and is retained along an inner surface of the leg on a release liner. During use, the attachment portions are both released from the release liner on the inner surface of the first and second legs such that an adhesive on the attachment portion can be used to attach the edge protector to a package or product.

Abstract: A shipping crate formed from connected V-shaped corner board sections. The shipping crate includes top and bottom frames each formed from sections of corner board. A series of attachment clips are used to connect the top and bottom frames to corner uprights and one or more cross supports, where the corner uprights and cross supports are formed from sections of corner board. The attachment clip includes a center wall and front and back walls that each combine with the center wall to form first and second receiving cavities. The first and second receiving cavities are each able to receive one leg of a corner board section. A guard wall is formed on the attachment clip and spaced from the back wall to define a connector cavity. The connector cavity receives ends of a series of connectors used to join the corner board sections within the attachment clip.

Abstract: A display unit movable between a disassembled position and an assembled position having a back wall, a first sidewall extending from a first side end of the back wall, a second sidewall extending from a second side end of the back wall, and a plurality of shelves that are operably coupled to the back wall, the first sidewall, and the second sidewall. The shelf has a support surface that is parallel to the back wall when the display unit is in the disassembled position. The support surface is configured to be transverse to and extend from the back wall when the display unit is in the assembled position.

Abstract: A method and system are described for providing supports for multiple rows of stacked goods with edge protectors that can be separated at predetermined zones to allow one row of stacked goods to be readily separated from another row. Also described are separable edge protectors for use with the method and system. Also described is a method and system for providing customized packaging adapted for specific goods.

Abstract: A combination mobile display and shipping device that allows product to be loaded onto the mobile display such that the display can be shipped in a loaded condition. The mobile display includes a product display and a support platform having a plurality of wheels mounted to the bottom surface of the support platform. When the mobile display is received at a retail location, the mobile display can be moved to a desired position through the rolling movement of the plurality of wheels. During shipment, the support platform is securely attached to a shipping pallet designed such that the plurality of wheels are suspended above the ground surface to prevent the rolling movement of the mobile display during shipment. After shipment, the support platform and shipping pallet are separated such that the mobile display can be rolled into a desired location with the product loaded on the display rack.

Abstract: An edge protector is provided for protecting an edge or corner of an article. The edge protector includes a cushion insert having an inner surface adapted to engage the corner of the article, and an outer surface provided with a pair of spaced apart retaining elements. A reinforcing body has an inner surface engaged against the outer surface of the cushion insert and a pair of spaced apart outer edges retained by the retaining elements of the cushion insert.

Abstract: A roll support and spacing member has parallel, connected and nestable first and second sections foldable upon a hinge to provide support structure in the middle of a stack of rolls. The roll support and spacing member has upwardly and downwardly facing, roll-engaging indentations with the sections being separable to provide top and bottom support pieces for engaging rolls in the stack. The sections are movable into superposed relationship with one another. The first and second sections have peripheral flanges located along opposed sides and opposed ends thereof and formed with cooperable interlocking structure positively retaining the sections together when the sections are placed in superposed relationship.

Abstract: A modular packaging and display system for shipping and displaying products. The modular packaging and display system includes multiple display trays supported by a series of V-shaped spacers. The modular packaging and display system includes a plurality of V-shaped support members positioned near the corners of each display tray to stabilize the packaging system. The spacers and the support members are preferably formed from paperboard. The modular packaging and display system is strong enough to support the weight of the products and the trays and withstand the weight of one or more units stacked thereupon.

Abstract: A product protector for use in protecting three sides of a product being shipped. The product protector includes a pair of corner protectors joined to each other to define a smooth inner surface without the use of external connectors. Each corner protector is formed from an inner layer and an outer layer, where one leg of the corner protector includes an overlap portion having a reduced thickness. The inner layer and the outer layer are secured to each other along only one of the two legs such that the inner layer and outer layer can separate along the other of the two legs. When a pair of corner protectors are attached to each other, the overlap area of the first corner protector is positioned between the inner and outer layers of the second corner protector to define the U-shaped edge protector.

Abstract: An improved porous mold for fabricating a formed mold pulp structure to protectively support at least one roll of web material. The mold has a forming surface that contains a first molding cavity surrounded by a periphery. The molding container has sidewalls extending from at least a portion of the periphery into the molding cavity. Within the molding cavity is at least one generally semi-cylindrical hump and land formation areas positioned adjacent the hump and one land formation areas at an end of the hump. A first mold forming surface on the hump is smooth and dished longitudinally such that a transverse cross-section of the first mold forming surface across the hump in the molding cavity is generally concave between the respective sidewalls. The first molding cavity also has a chamfered portion between the hump and an adjacent sidewall and the first molding cavity can have a plurality of humps separated by land formation areas.

Abstract: An improved roll support for stabilizing and storing large rolls of web material. The roll support is preferably an elongated molded pulp member. A roll of web material is generally supported by a roll supporting surface defined by a plurality of support wedges contained on a face side surface of the roll support. Each of the support wedges are spaced apart by generally rectangular depressions formed in the front face surface. A plurality of enlarged sidewall arches are formed in the sidewalls of the roll support. The roll support includes a reinforcement bridge formed on the back side surface between each sidewall arch and a protrusion on the back side of the large roll support which corresponds to one of the rectangular depressions on the face side of the large roll support. Preferably, a reinforcement bridge is formed from each corner of the protrusion to one of the sidewall arches.

Abstract: An improved roll support and spacing structure for packaging and handling of multi-layer stacks of rolls of web material. The structure is preferably an elongated molded pulp member. Rolls of web material fit into generally semi-cylindrical indentations in the roll support structure. The generally semi-cylindrical roll cushioning indentations are smooth and free of recesses, and thus substantially eliminate marking, denting and/or scratching associated with such recesses. The smooth, generally semi-cylindrical roll cushioning indentations are crowned to improve strength and reduce sagging during fabrication. Raised lands are located between the roll cushioning indentations. The resulting roll support structure provides the proper combination of strength and flexibility to appropriately cushion the rolls.

Abstract: A structure is provided for supporting and spacing rolls of web material. The structure includes an elongated member with first and second opposed surfaces. The first surface has a plurality of spaced, semi-cylindrical indentations therein for receiving the rolls of webbed material. A recess is located in each side portion of each semi-cylindrical indentation so as to form corresponding convex protrusions on the second, opposed surfaces. Bridging is placed along the second surface between the convex protrusion formed by a recess and a first semi-cylindrical indentation and the convex protrusion formed by the recess in a second, adjacent semi-cylindrical indentation.
