Patent number: 7945980Abstract: A bridge deck (20) includes a plurality of rows (72, 74) of tubes (44) each extending between tube ends (46) with the tubes (44) disposed adjacent to each other in a side by side relationship. The bridge deck (20) includes lifting blocks (60, 70) having a square periphery with equal block sides (58) disposed therein abutting one of the tube ends (46) of at least one of the tubes (44) and laterally engaging adjacent tubes (44) on either side of the one tube (44). The rows (72, 74) include block rows (72, 74) defining two tubes (44) abutting one of the block sides (58) of one of the lifting blocks (60, 70). The block rows (72, 74) include end-block rows (74) having one of the tubes (44) abutting one of the block sides (58) of one of the lifting blocks (60, 70) at each tube end (46) thereof. The block rows (72, 74) include mid-block rows (72) having two tubes (44) abutting opposite block sides (58) of one of the lifting blocks (60, 70).Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2009Date of Patent: May 24, 2011Assignee: Griswold Machine & Engineering, Inc.Inventor: Joseph Zylman

Patent number: 4056940Abstract: A trench shoring assembly including first and second spaced walls having upper surfaces with third and fourth spaced walls stacked upon the upper surfaces of the first and second walls. A plurality of tubular collars project from the various walls and are aligned vertically at each end thereof. Spreader pipes interconnect these collar projections at one end of the assembly and a spreader assembly interconnects the stacked walls at the other end. More specifically, the spreader assembly includes vertically extending metal beams interconnecting the collars projecting from the walls and tie bars extending between the vertical beams at a position spaced well above the upper surfaces of the lower walls thereby facilitating a pipe having a diameter which is greater than the vertical height of the lowermost walls.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 1976Date of Patent: November 8, 1977Assignee: Griswold Machine & Engineering, Inc.Inventor: Walter A. Patent number: 3992887Abstract: This invention relates to a trench shoring assembly which includes a pair of spaced apart side walls for vertical disposition within a trench. Spreader pipes and spreader collars interconnect the side walls and allow limited pivotal movement between the wide walls. Each side wall includes outer and inner metal plates connected to a plurality of interconnected structural members which define a main frame. The interconnected structural members include horizontally extending hollow metal beams including a top beam which extends longitudinally along the top of the side wall, two intermediate beams parallel the hollow metal beam and a bottom beam. A hardwood insert is disposed within the top beam to prevent the collapse of the hollow metal beam. Each side wall contains a number of hollow beams extending perpendicularly to the horizontal beams and ribbed members extending perpendicularly to the horizontal beams. These vertical beams and members are interconnected by a strip member.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1976Date of Patent: November 23, 1976Assignee: Griswold Machine & Engineering, Inc.Inventor: Walter A.
