Patent number: 6168347Abstract: A set of paving blocks wherein each block is a prism having side and end walls that are irregular in outline but are contained only within a respective virtual rectangular perimeter. The rectangular perimeter has a length L in a X axis and a width W in a Y axis at right angle to the X axis. At least two spaced apart parallel sections of the prism extend between the side walls, parallel to the Y axis and terminate at the virtual rectangular perimeter, such that each section has a width equal to W and the prism has at least one section bisecting the virtual rectangle parallel to the X axis and terminating at a rectangular perimeter and having a length equal to L.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1999Date of Patent: January 2, 2001Assignee: Groupe Permacon Inc.Inventors: Eric Milot, Pierre Wilkie

Patent number: 6109906Abstract: An apparatus for treating selected at least partial surfaces of a masonry block, including at least a flail having a shaft with an axis of rotation in a vertical plane, at least a moving mechanism for moving one of the masonry blocks parallel to the vertical plane and the flail, mechanism for holding the masonry blocks with the selected surface to be treated at a distance from the shaft to be impacted by the flail.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1997Date of Patent: August 29, 2000Assignee: Groupe Permacon Inc.Inventors: Bertin Castonguay, Eric Milot, Jean-Pierre Perreault, Jocelyn Caux

Patent number: 6024517Abstract: A concrete slab for forming blocks for a retaining wall comprises a prism having parallel top and bottom surfaces, and opposed parallel side walls, and end walls, the prism has an X axis in the longitudinal direction extending between the end walls, a Y axis in the width direction extending between the side walls, and a Z axis perpendicular to the X and Y axes extending between the top and bottom surfaces. A first dividing line extends parallel to the X axis from one end wall to the other end wall in order to define a separating plane bisecting the prism. At least a pair of dividing lines extend parallel to the Y axis of the prism from the first dividing line to each of the opposite side walls, wherein the second dividing lines are parallel to each other but offset therefrom, whereby upon separating the slab along the first and second dividing lines, at least four blocks in the form of rectilinear prisms having different dimensions in the X axis will be formed.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 1998Date of Patent: February 15, 2000Assignee: Groupe Permacon Inc.Inventors: Bertin Castonguay, Eric Milot

Patent number: 5735643Abstract: A retaining wall kit is made up of a plurality of molded blocks, some having different thicknesses and some having different lengths. Keyhole-slots may be provided at the rear face of the molded blocks, each keyhole being proportionally sized inwardly of the rear face of the block such that a retaining member fitted within the keyhole-slot projects downwardly from the one molded block to engage the rear face of an adjacent molded block so as to space the molded blocks in a regular sloped position such that the inter section of the front and top faces of each molded block is in a common plane.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1996Date of Patent: April 7, 1998Assignee: Groupe Permacon Inc.Inventors: Bertin Castonguay, Eric Milot

Patent number: 5261760Abstract: An improved curb section of precast concrete subdivided into modules by transverse grooves which give the appearance of shorter blocks and provide for fracturing the curb section at those locations. Each module of the curb section has a rearward T-shaped projection. L-shaped projection is formed at each end module of the curb section in proximity to the end face so that L-shaped projections of adjacent curb section form a projection equivalent to a T-shaped projection. T-shaped projections and an adjacent pair of L-shaped projections are anchored by sliding a channel-shaped anchor element which engages the projections and has a V-shaped lower end to penetrate the pavement or ground. The modules of the curb section can be of rectangular shape or tapered thereby defining rectilinear elongated curb sections or curved elongated curb sections which can be fastened adjacent to one another.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1992Date of Patent: November 16, 1993Assignee: Groupe Permacon Inc.Inventors: Bertin Castonguay, Rejean Castonguay, Waguih Chikani, Jean Boucher, Pierre Michaud, Gilles Desharnais, Jacques Marc-Aurele, Elie Chiniara

Patent number: 5139721Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming a curb section of a predetermined length sub-divided into modules by transverse grooves which give the appearance of shorter blocks and provide for fracturing the curb section at those locations. Each module of the curb section includes a rearward fastening projection having a vertical bore for passing a nail to engage the curb section to pavement or other base. Such linear mold sections are all that are required when a curve is dictated. The mold sections are sub-divided into the modules to form the curve. The apparatus includes an open frame moving vertically against a platform and mold shoes for pressing down on the concrete when poured in the mold frame, including plugs for forming the tops of the fastening projections. According to the method, the plugs are removed after the mold frame is lifted, and then the shoes are removed to leave the formed curb sections on the bottom wall.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1990Date of Patent: August 18, 1992Assignee: Groupe Permacon Inc.Inventors: Bertin Castonguay, Alain Ratte
