  • Patent number: 7272958
Abstract: A novel latch needle has a sawslot (11) which is provided with facets or surfaces (22, 25) both at its frontal and its rearward end surfaces (18, 19). The surfaces (22, 25) are preferably parallel to one another and are oriented perpendicularly to the direction of length (L) of the shank. By virtue of this arrangement the surfaces are so oriented that the latch (6), as it opens or closes, pushes any dirt past the respective surfaces through the sawslot (11) and thus an accumulation and compacting of dirt cushions on the noted surfaces is avoided. Generally stated, the sawslot (11), particularly in the region of its end surfaces (18, 19) is thus void of any surface regions which represent an obstacle to the opening or closing latch (6).

  • Patent number: 7266978
Abstract: A knitting tool which is suitable for embodying both large and small loops has two needles (6, 7), disposed coaxially to one another, whose hooks are oriented identically. The hook of the larger needle (6) is split in two in the middle and comprises hook halves. The finer needle (7) can be driven between the two hook halves upon spreading of the two hook halves apart from one another. For selectively closing the hooks, a slide is provided, which can be brought into engagement both with the tip of the fine needle and with the tip of the coarser needle. To raise and lower the slide to the various positions of the hook tips relative to the needle back, a sliding control block may be provided. The sliding control block may be embodied on the coarse needle and the fine needle (7).

  • Publication number: 20070199489
Abstract: A gripper device in accordance with the invention comprises a gripper (3) and a counter knife element (4) that are fabricated separately and joined. As a result of this, optimal material combinations are possible, which will deal with both types of wear, namely between the gripper (3) and the tufting needle (5), on the one hand, and between the knife (6) and the counter knife element (4), on the other hand. The gripper module (1) accommodates the counter knife element (4), which, in turn, supports the gripper (3). The two parts may be joined by caulking, cementing, riveting, screwing or similar measures, or they may be cast together in the gripper module (1). The cutting of the loop is done exclusively between the counter knife element (4) and the knife (6).

  • Publication number: 20070193487
Abstract: A novel tufting needle (4) is distinguished by a hollow flute (15) which is preferably symmetrical to a central plane (29) and which is bilaterally provided with chamfers (33, 34). The chamfers (33, 34) are, in an inward-located, that is, in a region lying close to the central plane (29), inclined at a small acute angle (?) to a reference plane (28), while in a region bordering an externally located rim (edges (46, 47)), the chamfers (33, 34) are inclined at a larger acute angle (?) to the reference plane (28). This feature improves the rigidity, the tufting properties and the mechanical strength, as well as the wear resistance of the novel tufting needle (4).

  • Patent number: 7246418
Abstract: The felting needle according to the invention comprises a working part (12) with two partial sections (15, 16), each of which is preferably embodied with straight edges. The two partial sections are twisted slightly, relative to each other. Each partial section is provided with at least one ring of indentations with the indentations arranged offset to each other in axial direction. As a result, all notches are oriented uniformly in the direction of the longitudinal axis (14), despite the slight twisting of the section between the two partial sections (15, 16). The felting needle can thus be used to produce fleece materials and needle-punched felt materials, which have a nearly uniform tearing resistance in longitudinal as well as lateral direction.

  • Publication number: 20070144220
Abstract: A system component (1) for a knitting system is composed of a body (3) with butt (18), which projects outward from the narrow side (16) of the body (3). According to a first advantageous embodiment of the invention, the butt (18) is positioned inclined or at an angle to the body (3). A corresponding bending line extends in longitudinal or movement direction of the body (3). The angle (?) is thus defined in an imaginary plane (E) that intersects the body (3) in transverse direction. As a result of this measure, the butt (18) can also be adjusted relatively precisely at a right angle to the cam movement if the system component (1) along with it the body (3) is arranged somewhat inclined inside a corresponding guide slot (4) of a bed (5), wherein the angle a then compensates for the tilting. A line-type contact between the butt (18) and the guide track (7) is achieved, which reduces wear.

  • Publication number: 20070144219
Abstract: An apparatus according to the invention for producing a knitted fabric with interspacing is embodied in the form of a circular knitting machine with knitting cylinders or with a knitting cylinder and a dial. Between the two needle beds for the needle assemblies defined in this way, a pile thread transfer device 4 is arranged, which is preferably provided with two groups 5, 6 of feed elements that can respectively be moved from an idle position to a thread tucking position. In the process, the feed elements of the one group move toward the needle hooks of the first needle bed and the feed elements of the other group move toward the needle hooks of the other needle bed. In this way, a spaced apart knitted fabric can be produced on circular knitting machines, wherein latch needles can be used and the needle stroke is limited to the standard measure of less than 14 mm. The knitted fabric with interspacing can have a thickness of clearly more than 14 mm, meaning a thickness than far exceeds the needle stroke.

  • Publication number: 20070137719
Abstract: The heddle shaft (1) according to the invention combines a traditional heddle machine (2) with an eccentric toothed gearing to purposely allow the heddle shaft (1) to dwell for longer periods of time in the upper and lower reversing region and to reduce any accelerations that occur. This permits an increase in the weaving speed and/or the weaving widths. For a particularly advantageous embodiment, a coupling device is additionally provided, which gives the heddle shaft (1) a pendulum movement with a stroke ranging from a few millimeters to centimeters during the idle phases, meaning when no sheds are formed. As a result of the pendulum movement of the heddle shaft (1) in the upper or lower reversing region, the acceleration loads on the heddle shaft (1) can be further reduced.

  • Patent number: 7231942
Abstract: A shaft rod for a heddle shaft is formed by a profile body (15) and an associated additional profile body, which are joined together by a detent means (25) and additionally by an adhesive bond. The detent means (25) is embodied such that it already holds the additional profile body (19) fixed and in the correct position on the profile body (15) when the adhesive that forms the adhesive seam (33) is still liquid or viscous, or in any case has not yet thoroughly hardened. This provision makes it substantially easier to manipulate the shaft rod (4) during manufacture.

  • Publication number: 20070131301
Abstract: A heddle (1) for flat, band-shaped warp threads (36) is provided with a thread eyelet (7), for which the width preferably exceeds the height. A thread eyelet (7) of this type prevents a deformation of the band-shaped warp thread (36), in particular a compressing on the sides during the shed formation. In addition, the heddle (1) according to the invention is preferably provided with thread guiding surfaces, which are longer than the thickness of the heddle (1) body (3), relative to the running direction of the warp thread. As a result of these measures, the wear on the heddle (1) as well as the warp thread (36) can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20070084250
Abstract: The machine knitting needle of the invention, beginning at its hook (3), between the hook (3) and its latch bearing (9), has a convex or at least not concave shank contour, which defines the inner hook contour and on one end (18) adjoins the concave inner hook contour directly. It is attained as a result that the elevation angle which a yarn (23), located in the hook (3), must overcome if it is to slide on the shank does not increase at any point along the inner contour (17). Preferably, it even decreases steadily. It thus has its maximum value inside a space which is defined on the one hand by the inner hook contour (15) and on the other by a plumb line (L) or (L1) which is dropped, from the hook tip (12) or its tapering portion (11), onto the needle back (16), or if the needle back is not oriented parallel to the direction of motion of the machine knitting needle, onto the arrow that defines the direction of motion.
