  • Patent number: 6209360
Abstract: A latch needle includes a head; a cheek having two facing side walls each having an inner wall face and an outer wall face; a sawslot defined by the inner wall faces of the side walls; and a pivot pin being formed at least on one of the side walls by plastically deforming the side wall. The pivot pin extends from the inner wall face of the side wall into the sawslot. The latch needle further has a first depression provided in the outer wall face of the side wall in alignment with the pivot pin. The first depression includes a bottom having a peripheral region in which a second depression is provided. A needle latch cooperates with the head and has a latch shank accommodated in the sawslot. The latch shank has a hole into which the pivot pin extends for forming a bearing support for the needle latch.

  • Patent number: 6142088
Abstract: A tufting needle is disclosed. The needle consists of a butt (3) and a shank (7). The butt can be integrally formed at least partially in a needle module (1), while the shank has a needle tip, provided with an eye (9), and a thread guide groove (8) on one side as well as a chamfer (10) at one edge of the side (11) which is located opposite the thread guide groove (8). A chamfer (10) is likewise provided at a second edge of the side (11) opposite the guide groove (8), and the tufting needle is symmetric relative to a plane centrally dividing the thread groove (8) and the side (11) opposite the guide groove (8).

  • Patent number: 6122938
Abstract: A stamped knitting tool, receivable for reciprocating motion in a guide groove of a knitting tool carrier forming a component of a knitting machine, includes a shank having a shank length, first and second opposite broad sides having outer faces, a full shank thickness defined by a distance between the outer face of said the first broad side and the outer face of the second broad side, and a guide region extending along a portion of the shank length. The guide region remains at all times within the guide groove when the knitting tool reciprocates in the guide groove. The knitting tool further has at least one butt carried by the shank; and at least one free surface which is provided in at least the first broad side. The free surface is recessed relative to the outer face of the first broad side, whereby a distance between the recessed free surface and the outer face of the second broad side defines a reduced shank thickness which is less than the full shank thickness.

  • Patent number: 6112556
Abstract: A method of making a knitting tool for a textile machine includes the following steps: stamping a knitting tool blank from stock material, wherein the stamped blank has, at an outer periphery thereof, a sharp burr and/or a sharp edge resulting from the stamping step; and submitting the stamped blank to an embossing step for rounding and/or chamfering the sharp burr and/or the sharp edge, whereby the sharp burr and/or the sharp edge is at least partially eliminated by embossing.

  • Patent number: 6062151
Abstract: A tufting needle is disclosed. The needle has a shank (1) and a stem (2). The needle has a lower eye (4) in the stem (2) which is close to the tip (3) and an upper eye (6 in FIG. 1, and 15 in FIG. 2), and a thread-guiding groove (7) on one side running along the stem (2) and connecting the eyes (4 and 6 in FIGS. 1, and 4 and 15 in FIG. 2). The needle also has a transitional segment (5 in FIG. 1, and 14 in FIG. 2) between the lower end of the shank (1) and the upper end of the stem (2). The stem is offset with respect to the shank (1) but runs parallel thereto; the upper eye (6 in FIG. 1, and 15 in FIG. 2) is in the transitional segment (5 in FIG. 1 and 14 in FIG. 2) and is aligned with the thread-guiding groove (7).

  • Patent number: 6023948
Abstract: A knitting tool includes a flat shank having opposite first and second narrow sides and an elongated, narrow control spring forming an integral, one-piece part with the shank and projecting therefrom. The control spring has a first, free end and an opposite second end. The second end is directly formed on the shank and constitutes a continuation of the first narrow shank side. The knitting tool further has an elongated bay bounded by the control spring and the first narrow shank side. The bay has an open end at the first, free end of the control spring and a closed end at the second end of the control spring.

  • Patent number: 5937674
Abstract: A stamped knitting tool includes a shank having a shank thickness; and a window opening provided in the shank and defined by shank edges of the shank. At least one of the shank edges has an edge region of reduced thickness relative to the shank thickness. The edge region of reduced thickness has an increasing thickness as viewed in cross section in a direction toward the window opening. The edge region of reduced thickness has a minimum thickness and a maximum thickness; the maximum thickness is closer to the window opening than the minimum thickness and is less than the shank thickness. A heterogeneous material fills the window opening and is firmly connected with the shank, and the edge region of reduced thickness projects into the heterogeneous material.

  • Patent number: 5901582
Abstract: A stamped knitting tool, such as a latch needle, has, on its shank, a lubricant distributing arrangement formed on at least one of the opposite broad shank faces for collecting a lubricant therein during operation of the knitting tool. The lubricant distributing arrangement is constituted by a region of reduced shank thickness extending transversely to the shank length from a distance from the upper shank edge at least substantially to the lower shank edge. The region of reduced shank thickness may be a chamfer, a recess or a depression.

  • Patent number: 5853087
Abstract: A packing receptacle for elongated articles includes a receiving part having a holding arrangement for individually positioning the articles therein; and a lid part having a first position in which the lid part is arranged on, and defines an article-receiving space with, the receiving part and a second position in which the lid part is removed from the receiving part. The article-receiving space has a removal opening through which the articles may be removed from the packing receptacle. A hinge interconnects the receiving part with the lid part for allowing a pivotal movement of the lid part about a hinge axis of the hinge from the second position into the first position. An anchoring device secures the lid part to the receiving part when the lid part is in the first position. Further, a closure arrangement is articulated to the lid part and/or the receiving part for movement into a closed position to block the removal opening and into an open position to unblock the removal opening.
