Abstract: An electrical cable penetration seal apparatus which includes a compliant module having an inner and outer regions of different durometer characteristics. In some forms of the invention the outer regions are generally planar and disposed on opposed sides of the compliant module. The outer regions are manufactured of a relatively high durometer elastomer than an inner region which is made from a lower durometer elastomer.
Abstract: A circuit operator with a push to test arrangement includes a housing. A first switch is mounted in the housing and has a toggle lever pivotably connected thereto so as to place the toggle switch in its on or off state. A second switch is also mounted in the housing and is connected to a push button for initiating tests. A single switch actuator allows a user to actuate the first switch and/or the second switch from an exterior of the housing.

Abstract: A breather box attaches to the exterior wall of an electrical enclosure. An upper breather opening in the box connects with a vent opening in the wall. A lower breather opening in the box is shielded by a wall spaced therefrom to prevent water entry. A labyrinth in the interior of the box forces ascending water through a series of sharp turns and through a series of constrictions which are followed by expansion chambers. The labyrinth terminates at a liquid exit adjacent the upper wall of the breather box, forcing water to substantially fill the breather box before it can enter the enclosure.

Abstract: In an exit sign, an insertable battery pack module is designed to fit in the lower portion of the exit sign housing. This battery pack module incorporates a pair of lamps as well as a battery, battery charger and transfer circuitry. The module incorporates a pair of reflective surfaces so that light from lamp filaments tangentially hit at least a portion of the exit sign stenciled area along the bottom portion of the letters forming the word EXIT. If an exit sign is only to have utility AC power, then the module need not be installed within the exit sign. In this configuration, the bottom portion of the exit sign can incorporate a slidable panel which is removed if the battery pack module is later inserted. The battery pack module incorporates the indicator light and test button which then would show through the area where the panel formerly resided.
Abstract: In an exit sign, a canopy bracket has a pair of resilient spring fingers which are inserted through a central circular opening of a mounting plate mounted to a standard electrical box located in a wall or ceiling. The spring fingers temporarily secure the canopy bracket to the mounting plate this allowing an electrician to easily align and secure screws to the mounting plate, thereby greatly facilitating installation. The wires from the electrical box are extended through mounting plate and the canopy prior to securing the canopy to the mounting plate. Once secured, the user simply fits a hub portion of the canopy bracket telescopically within an opening with the exit sign housing. Spring capture barb members of the hub engage the housing to fixedly secure the exit sign to the wall or ceiling. Then the user connects the wires extending from the canopy bracket to those in the exit sign.
