Patent number: 5312264Abstract: An article such, as an electrical connector, for mounting upon a substrate, such as a printed circuit board. The article includes a mounting plane having locating and centering means thereon. The locating and centering means comprises first and second spaced apart, depending lugs, each of which tapers from a first diameter proximal the mounting plane to a second diameter, narrower than the first diameter, distal said mounting plane. The first lug has a longitudinal slot extending its length in a given direction and the second lug has a longitudinal slot extending its length in a direction orthogonal to the given direction. The slots extending in different directions provide a centering and holding response which fixes the connector in position so that subsequent operations may be performed.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1991Date of Patent: May 17, 1994Assignee: GTE Products Corp.Inventors: Ronald E. Patent number: 5051657Abstract: An electric lamp assembly includes a sealed outer envelope, an arc discharge tube mounted within the outer envelope, a safety filament connected in series with the arc discharge tube for extinguishing the arc tube within a predetermined time after the outer envelope is broken, and an electrically-insulating sleeve disposed around the safety filament. The insulating sleeve suppresses emission of electrons from the safety filament and thereby prevents a reduction in frame potential which would increase sodium loss from the arc tube. The insulating sleeve includes openings which permit air to reach the safety filament when the outer envelope is broken. A mounting arrangement includes a pair of mounting tabs which provide electrical connections for the safety filament and which approximately centers the safety filament in the insulating sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1990Date of Patent: September 24, 1991Assignee: GTE Products Corp.Inventors: Simone P. Patent number: 4360890Abstract: Apparatus for a signalling system. The apparatus includes a plurality of remote control units each of which is arranged to store self-check timing data therein. This data has a value representing a predetermined period of time the expiration of which corresponds to a predetermined time of day differing from the times of day associated with at least some of the other remote control units. At or following this particular time of day, a self-check operation is initiated for communicating a self-check message, including identification number data identifying the remote control unit, to a centralized communications center. A computer at the communications center receives and processes self-check messages produced by the remote control units and operates in response to each message from a remote control unit to note the identification number data therein and, using this data, to derive self-check timing data for use by the remote control unit in the next self-check operation.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1979Date of Patent: November 23, 1982Assignees: GTE Products Corp., GTE Laboratories Inc.Inventors: Robert J.
