Patents Assigned to GTE Telecommunication Services Incorporated
  • Patent number: 6963555
Abstract: In a telecommunications network, a platform is provided to perform authorization, routing, gathering, and delivery of transmissions between multiple remote units and host locations. In a controlled environment, remote units are authorized to initiate transmissions to and receive transmissions from a limited number of locations. The platform stores profile information for remote units in a database, including services authorized for remote units based on timing events. The platform determines the appropriate destination for a transmission from a remote unit based on the profile information stored in the database and identifiers associated with the remote unit and telecommunications router serving the remote unit. The platform authorizes a transmission to the destination based on the profile information, determines a routing number associated with the destination, and transmits the routing number to an appropriate point in the network to enable completion of the transmission.

  • Patent number: 6363431
Abstract: A system and method to transfer messages between signaling systems in different domains for wireless communication. In one aspect of the invention, a method for communicating between a switch servicing a roaming mobile phone in a domain different than a home switch to which the mobile phone is defined. A signaling gateway is used as an interface between the two domains. The method includes storing in the signaling gateway a mobile identification number (MIN) and the home switch point code that the mobile phone is defined to. When the mobile phone roams into another domain, the switch servicing the roaming mobile phone, the serve switch, identifies the mobile phone as belonging to another domain and sends a message to the signaling gateway. The signaling gateway stores this information and informs the home switch that all messages designated for the serve switch need to be sent to the signaling gateway.

  • Patent number: 6192241
Abstract: Wireless telephone communications are processed by first contacting a worldwide wireless access facility which interfaces between the caller and the phone systems to determine a present location of a subscriber. The facility queries the home system requesting a roaming status and number of the subscriber. If the subscriber is roaming, the home network identifies a present serving network for the indicated subscriber from a list maintained of each subscriber's roaming location. The home network queries the present serving system and obtains a temporary local directory number for the subscriber. The home network returns a number to the worldwide wireless facility for reaching the subscriber. The facility uses this number to direct the telephone call to the called party.

  • Patent number: 6049599
Abstract: A churn amelioration system (20) supports data feeds from mobile switching centers (32), billing systems (34), and customer service systems (36). The system (20) maintains an extensive database (42) of customer/unit data and of rules which indicate how to interpret the data. A churn history process (68) establishes rules for predicting the likelihood of churn. An administration process (86) establishes action-related and offer-related rules and assigns identified customer/units to selected organization representative user (ORU) in-boxes so that the identified customers may be proactively contacted by the ORUs. The ORUs interactively operate a churn amelioration process (126). The churn amelioration process (126) proactively or reactively identifies a specific customer/unit (128), then calculates churn vulnerability (140) and customer worth (150). The system (20) prompts ORUs with pre-approved potential offers (192) which may be extended to customers. These offers are configured in response to customer worth.

  • Patent number: 5497412
Abstract: A system for enhanced call delivery to a roaming cellular subscriber, enabling said subscriber to receive calls placed to his MIN in his home system service area, utilizes a central telecommunications system processor capable of handling network applications, directly connected to a plurality of mobile telephone switches located in the service areas of a plurality of cellular telephone systems, each of said switches connected via a direct communication link to said central telecommunications system processor. A plurality of registers in said central telecommunications system processor are provided for storing data bases of system information, individual switch information, and subscriber information.
