Patent number: 4836364Abstract: A strut improvement in an erectable carton of the shadow box type. The improved strut is provided from the carton material forming the carton blank which extends from a pair of corresponding non-common sides of two side-by-side panels which are retained in side-by-side relation as part of one pair of side-by-side panel structures when the blank is in a flattened preform condition. The strut includes a first end portion having an integral hinge connection with one of the two panels along the corresponding side thereof, a substantial central portion free of connnection with the corresponding sides of the two panels, and a second end portion having an integral hinge connection with the other of the two panels along the corresponding side thereof. The strut is folded along the hinge connections so as to bring the first end portion into surface-to-surface engagement with the one of the two panels and the second end portion into surface-to-surface engagement with the other of the two panels.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1988Date of Patent: June 6, 1989Assignee: Gulf States Paper CorporationInventors: Jimmy J. Hanko, Lawrence V. Brom

Patent number: 4552293Abstract: A flat blank of foldable sheet material cut and scored to be erected and secured into a container comprising a pair of peripheral wall forming sections and a bottom wall forming section integrally interconnecting the peripheral sections in spaced relation. The interconnection between the bottom section and peripheral sections is along straight parallel fold lines. The bottom section has a plurality of flaps formed integrally with the remaining periphery thereof between the corresponding ends of the parallel fold lines. The interconnection between the bottom section and each of the flaps is along a straight fold line defining a portion of the periphery of the bottom section. Each peripheral section includes opposed side portions disposed outwardly of the associated parallel fold line.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1983Date of Patent: November 12, 1985Assignee: Gulf States Paper CorporationInventors: Bobby W. Blagg, Richard F. Gulliver

Patent number: 4331238Abstract: A fast food containing and serving device comprising a thin wall structure erected from a paperboard blank so as to be movable (1) from a tray defining position wherein the same can be stored in a stacked nested relationship with a multiplicity of similar thin wall structures into a closed container defining position wherein fast food or the like can be contained therein and (2) from the closed container defining position back into a tray defining position wherein the same can be used in serving the fast food or the like contained therein. The movement of the thin wall structure between the tray defining position and the closed container defining position is facilitated by a pair of spaced fold lines extending in the central portion of the flat bottom wall thereof between the central portions of the associated pair of side walls thereof and four cooperating fold lines in the central portions of each side wall.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1980Date of Patent: May 25, 1982Assignee: Gulf States Paper CorporationInventors: Jimmy J. Patent number: 4183993Abstract: A unidirectional reinforcing fabric and a resinous laminate made therewith, which fabric includes a weft knit yarn fabric formed of a multiplicity of weft knit stitches and a multiplicity of parallel longitudinally extending warp inserts held in said weft knit fabric. A bi-directional fabric is also disclosed which includes in addition to the above a multiplicity of parallel transversely extending weft inserts. Each insert includes a multiplicity of continuous monofilaments extending longitudinally in parallel relation with respect to one another without crimp or twist and grouped closely together so that the outline cross-sectional configuration of the group is approximately in the shape of an elongated rectangle. Each monofilament of each insert is formed from a material taken from the group consisting of glass, carbon and aramid and has a cross-sectional diameter of between 0.00032" and 0.00095". Each insert has the thickness of the rectangular cross-sectional configuration thereof between 0.003" and 0.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1978Date of Patent: January 15, 1980Assignee: Gulf States Paper CorporationInventors: Bryan C. Patent number: 4058433Abstract: Oxidation and fixing of sulfur and sulfur compounds in weak black liquor is accomplished by methods which insure minimal odorous sulfur emissions and which facilitate the collection of sulfate soaps. By critical adjustment of certain parameters substantially complete oxidation of sulfur and sulfur compounds is achieved, with maximum utilization of oxygen, while enhancing the collection of sulfate soaps and minimizing the production of foam. Various methods are disclosed for the oxygenation of weak black liquor, including the utilization of reaction columns, conical reactors, and venturis.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1975Date of Patent: November 15, 1977Assignee: Gulf States Paper CorporationInventors: Robert R. Patent number: 3958744Abstract: Structures for providing a single sheet of material or a box formed from the sheet with a manually detachable coupon-bearing surface area. A cut in the sheet to a depth less than the thickness of the sheet defines at least part of the perimeter of the detachable area. A tab adapted to be manually engaged is cooperable with the cut for enabling the surface area to be stripped as a layer from the sheet, the area prior to stripping from the sheet being substantially integral with the underlying region of the sheet. Various embodiments are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1974Date of Patent: May 25, 1976Assignee: Gulf States Paper CorporationInventor: Harald J. Herglotz
