  • Patent number: 6001204
Abstract: The storable modular component, especially a storable glass module, is prepared for assembly by gluing to another component without using an additional assembly glue. Along its edge it displays a profiled bead of a latent reactive adhesive which includes predominantly one or more polyurethane preproducts consisting of polyols and/or polyamines and encapsuled polyiscocyantes, or one or more polyurethanes with radically polymerizable groups. In this case the reaction of the adhesive can be initiated at an activation temperature of 70 to 180.degree. C. At the same time, it remains tacky and nonflowing but plastically deformable for a time sufficient for assembly. The stated materials are capable of being activated by being supplied with electrical, electromagnetic or magnetic energy or by infrared radiation. The adhesive may contain magnetized and/or electrically conductive fillers. The glass module is used for direct glazing of vehicles, especially automobiles.

  • Patent number: 5620794
Abstract: The invention provides a releasable adhesive joint between two elements. The two elements are fixed to each other by means of an adhesive bead or by means of two or more adhesive beads. The adhesive joint comprises a heatable separating member closely fitting the adhesive bead or embedded in the adhesive bead, or closely fitting or embedded in one of the adhesive beads. The heatable separating member looses the adhesion to the closely fitting parts of the adhesive joint or is destroyed upon heating the heatable separating member to a temperature at which the adhesive bead is not yet damaged, thus releasing the parts of the adhesive bead closely fitting the heatable separating member. This releasable adhesive joint is especially useful in fixing vehicle glass panes to a vehicle body frame.

  • Patent number: 5176780
Abstract: An adhesive having a content of a thermically curable oxazene resin which contains at least one 1-oxa-3-aza tetraline group in the molecule, optionally in combination with at least one curable epoxy compound, is used for bonding polyimide films to films of the same kind or to other substrates, particularly metal foils. Such bondings are highly heat-resistant and have an excellent peeling resistance. Therefore, they are suitable for the manufacture of printed circuit boards having high thermal stability and peeling resistance.

  • Patent number: 5092947
Abstract: A method of reinforcing a panel of sheet metal, a shaped plastic body or the like is performed by a one- or multi-layer stiffening member of essentially flat shape which comprises a layer at least partially consisting of a thermosetting resin. Thereby, the stiffening member is subjected to a first heat treatment until at least one of the surfaces of the stiffening member is sticky. Thereafter, the stiffening member is applied to the surface of an element to be reinforced. Finally, the stiffening member is subjected to a second, final heat treatment until all layers comprising a thermosetting resin material are cured. Thus, it is not necessary to manually prepare the stiffening member by removing a protection foil from its sticky surface prior to applying it to the element to be reinforced and fully automated handling is possible.

  • Patent number: 5069012
Abstract: In a vehicle body, the aperture for the pane or window comprises a mounting flange stepped towards the interior of the vehicle. The pane of window is adhesively fixed to that mounting flange along a peripheral edge portion. Along the edge of the mounting flange remote from the aperture for the pane or window a gap sealing member is adhesively fixed to the stepped portion of the mounting flange. The gap sealing member is an endless hollow profile member corresponding in size to the perimeter of the pane or window and is elastically deformable. The use of such a gap sealing member is much less expensive that known sealing members of this kind, offers good appearance and may be easily mounted while it effectively seals the gap between vehicle body and pane or window against dirt and moisture.

  • Patent number: 4994315
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to the mounting of panes or windshields in a frame, particularly to the mounting of panes or windshields of a vehicle, e.g. an automobile, in the body frame work. The invention provides a pane or windshield ready to be mounted comprising, along its edges, a first profiled bead of adhesive material, already cured and being elastic but not plastically deformable. The first bead comprises an essentially closed hollow chamber and in its interior a second bead of plastically deformable not yet cured adhesive material consisting of a substance chemically compatible to the material of the first bead. The second bead, serving as the real adhesive material, is protected from environmental influences without the need to remove a cover foil or a packing prior to mounting the window.

  • Patent number: 4986443
Abstract: The invention provides a method and an apparatus for discharging a substance contained in a cartridge or the like from the cartridge. The substance is prevented from flowing out by a sealing member provided at the outlet of the cartridge. To open the cartridge, a relative displacement between the cartridge and a coupling member mounted on the connection piece of the cartridge is effected to thereby open the sealing member by way of a cutting member provided in the coupling member. The sealing member is opened at least to such an extent that it releases the flow path of the substance contained in the cartridge fully or partially due to the pressure exerted on the sealing member by the substance contained in the cartridge during an initial phase of the discharge operation.

  • Patent number: 4900601
Abstract: The multi-layer body member consists of a support member, e.g. a glass fiber tissue impregnated with a thermosetting resin which is covered by a layer of thermosetting adhesive resin. In order to protect the sticky surface of the adhesive resin, a protection foil made of a meterial shrinking under the influence of heat is provided. The foil comprises slits which open to apertures after a preliminary heat treatment such that an essential portion of the sticky resin surface is freely exposed. Thus, the need to remove the protection foil prior to applying the multi-layer body member to the surface to be reinforced is removed.

  • Patent number: 4672100
Abstract: A chemically-hardening two-component material based on polyurethane is provided, having a first component being a prepolymer with isocyanate end groups and a second component being a product which has been obtained from that prepolymer with isocyanate end groups by reacting it with a reactive compound which has at least two active groups, containing active hydrogen and which do not react identically with isocyanate. The prepolymer is a reaction product of an aliphatic or aromatic di-isocyanate with a polyol.Such a material can be produced by reacting a prepolymer which contains isocyanate end groups, with a second component, which, in turn, has resulted from a prepolymer with isocyanate end groups by reacting with a reactive compound which has at least two molecule groups, containing hydrogen and reacting differently with isocyanate. The material is especially suitable as a self-hardening gluing, coating, sealing and molding material.
