Abstract: A brake disk for a disk brake, in particular, for motor cycles or bicycles, includes a brake band of a first material which has a high heat resistance and an inner part (20) of a second material which has a lower density than the first material. The brake band and the inner part (20) each have a plurality of extensions, which in each case are arranged in pairs bordering one another. A plurality of connecting elements connect the brake band (10) to the inner part (20) by being received in recesses (13, 23) formed in the extensions. Thus, a divided brake disk has little deformation or wear in the region of the connection between the brake band and the inner part in combination with a low weight. Specifically, the recess (23) is formed in such a way that the connecting line (51) between the ends of the recess (23) is at an angle ? of from 15 to 85° to the tangential direction (50).

  • Publication number: 20060273806
Abstract: An electrical characteristic in an operator-sensing circuit having a microcontroller that commands a charge sensor to send a sensor charge signal to a capacitive sensing element. The charge sensor outputs a corresponding raw data signal to the microcontroller that in turn sends a signal that disables the motor of a unit power equipment upon the absence of an operator's hand on a hand-gripping surface of the equipment. Capacitive means for operating within a predetermined charge range that includes preselected values that designate hands-off and hands-on conditions on the hand-gripping surface. The capacitor charge range is effective to distinguish between the presence of an operator's hand and foreign material on the gripping surface for avoiding a false hands-on-signal.

  • Publication number: 20050211508
Abstract: A brake caliper for a disk brake, in particular for motorcycles and/or bicycles, includes a housing (30) in which a disk space (39) for receiving a brake disk and a brake cylinder (35) for receiving a brake piston (25) are formed. The brake, cylinder (35) is connected to the disk space (39) and has, on its side opposite to the disk space (39), an assembly opening (50) through which the brake piston (25) can be inserted into the brake cylinder (35). A closure element (10) closes the assembly opening (50) after the insertion of the brake piston (25) into the brake cylinder (35). A securing element (21) secures the closure element (10) in the assembly opening (50) against forces in the direction of the main axis of the brake cylinder (35).

  • Patent number: 6374957
Abstract: The invention relates to a brake cylinder (100) and a hydraulic rim brake comprising a unit for receiving a brake pad (103). With known brake cylinders, it is difficult to remove the running wheel if the tire mounted on the wheel rim (6) is substantially wider than the wheel rim (6), since the wheel has to be moved through the gap between the two brake pads arranged on the brake cylinder. The brake cylinder according to the invention should have a simple structure and permit easy removal of the running wheel. The brake cylinder (100) according to the invention has a connecting member (302) for the arrangement of the brake cylinder (100) on a frame part (2″) in a manner rotatable about an axis, the axis being essentially orthogonal to the receiving unit for the brake pad (103).

  • Patent number: 6119818
Abstract: In order to provide a disk brake for vehicles, comprising a brake disk securely connectable to a hub, a brake caliper engaging over the brake disk on oppositely located sides, at least one first brake lining movable in the direction of the brake disk in relation to the brake caliper and at least one second brake lining arranged on the brake caliper so as to be non-displaceable, with which the brake linings do not touch the brake disk in the non-actuated state, it is suggested that the brake caliper be arranged so as to be fixed in a defined geometrical correlation to the hub, that the brake caliper be positioned in relation to the brake disk when the disk brake is not actuated such that a gap exists between the brake linings and the brake disk, and that when the disk brake is actuated the first brake lining act on the brake disk in such a manner that an outer ring of the brake disk acted upon by the first brake lining moves in the direction of the second brake lining under elastic deformation of the brake dis

  • Patent number: 5950497
Abstract: A vehicle handlebar comprising a tubular, straight center section, preferably of round cross section, two tubular, straight outer sections, preferably of round cross section, the center axes of the two outer sections not coinciding with a center axis of the center section and the outer diameter of the two outer sections being smaller than that of the center section, and two, hollow bent sections joining the center section and the two outer sections, the outer diameter of the two hollow, bent sections tapering from the center section to the outer sections, which obviates the disadvantages described hereinabove and with use of the lowest possible amount of material is of adequate dimensions with respect to both bending stress and clamping strain, it is proposed that the wall thickness of the center section and the two outer sections be of identical size.

  • Patent number: 5803848
Abstract: In order to improve a gear change system for bicycle derailleur gears, comprising a first chain changer for shifting the chain to different chain wheels on the pedal-crank side, a second chain changer for shifting the chain to different pinions on the wheel side, and a gear change device with a first switching unit for the first chain changer and with a second switching unit for the second chain changer and with a manually operated switching element by means of which both switching units can simultaneously be actuated so that by means of the latter the chain can simply be shifted to chain wheel/pinion combinations selected for a gear sequence and from a switched gear a transition is possible only to the next closest gear in the gear sequence, in such a way that a great degree of ease and comfort in switching can be achieved with the least possible effort, it is proposed that the first chain changer is a mechanical chain changer mechanically controllable through the first switching unit, and that the second ch

  • Patent number: 4855704
Abstract: A joystick for generating electric control signals comprises the following components: a housing, an operating rod, a universal joint for the operating rod, sensors and an element acting upon these in a positionally dependent manner. The distance of the element from the sensors can be varied by the operating rod. The sensors are in the form of induction coils through which alternating current circulates. The induction coils, in turn, are each part of an electric oscillatory circuit. It is adequate to provide only two such sensors. The element acting upon the induction coils is an induction body, more particularly, in the form of a spherical part which is rigidly connected to the operating rod. The center of the induction body is spaced from the center of the universal joint. By changing the distance of the induction body from the induction coils, the amplitude, frequency and/or phase of the respective oscillatory circuit can be changed in order to generate the electric control signals.

  • Patent number: 4585094
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulic rim brake for bicycles with a triggering mechanism which is attached to the handlebar of the bicycle and is actuated by a hand lever, with two brake cylinder housings which are attached to the frame of the bicycle in oppositely located relationship to each other and enclose between them a wheel rim, the brake cylinder housings being connected by pressure lines to the triggering mechanism, with pistons displaceable in the brake cylinder housings, and with brake shoe supports arranged on these pistons for supporting brake shoes engaging the rim. In order to protect the piston from the effect of harmful bending moments, provision is made for the brake shoe supports to be in the form of flanges which are connected to the piston and are each displaceable parallel to the motion of the brake piston in a slide guide provided on the brake cylinder housing, and for the slide guide to simultaneously constitute abutments for absorption of the braking forces.
